If IV lowers then Vega will reduce your premium, there is of course Theta to deal with too. Think of it like this, leveraged ETFs are managed by buying and selling at the end of each day to maintain the specific leverage. So if you are going turbo mode with options and targeting 6x leverage such as in this case, keep track of the implied leverage and should it dip lower than 6x due to the aforementioned issues or in the case the underlying rises, just roll up to another option that gets you where you want to be. The effect isn't much different than what the ETFs do.

Sell covered calls (or open spreads) with the short leg closer to ATM for stocks with very high IV (with high IV ranking relative to other daily rankings in the last year for instance). This is because vega is usually highest ATM (like theta).

When the IV drops (because it was only high due to earnings hype, and dropped after) those options you wrote get iv crushed and lose value. Vega also decays with time, so you see more of an effect when more of the value of the option is in the time value, so don't do weeklies, more like typical 35-60 DTE.

So I was messing around with the options calculator, and I think I got a cool idea, what I like to call the: Almost-naked put.
Basically writing a put like normal, yea? But on robinmeme you can't write naked (even with margin), you have to have the cash to secure it. So to secure it, instead of using a normal vertical spread, why not just buy a far otm put that is also farther out in time to profit off of vega rising? I figured, this is pretty much the same thing as a naked put write, but you're giving back some premium to be vega positive.

I'm bored so lemme put a finer point on this. Yes, IV, theta, gamma, delta, blah bla bla will affect your leverage but don't worry about that. The calculation is simple. Multiply the underlying price by the delta and divide by the option price. That gives you the effective leverage of the option. Do the math every so often, once a week, month, whatever. Make sure the leverage is somewhere in the ballpark of what you want, 5x, 10x, whatever and when it isn't then find a new option to roll to that is in the ballpark. Easy peasy.

This diagonal spread would work better as a back-ratio spread. Buying more of the longs so if the put ever gets exercised early for some reason you won't get totally fucked (you can end up losing even more money than if you didn't buy the long leg at all if that leg wasn't past your breakeven), so you ratio the spread so the legs are combined past breakeven at the time you open it.
