metal is valuable in general, silver/gold, and now often platinum/palladium/sometimes rhodium, are preferred because there's a lot of value in portable form. but, if you had the storage space, you could do the same thing people who stack gold/silver do, with copper/iron/anything really.

Don't know what to tell you guys.
If course any SHFT situation will have little use of silver, but given silver & gold has been used as unit of measurement for financial practice almost our entire history than its clear any break up the U.S will result in a gold & silver standard as well as other countries for that matter. Long term stability of any regional powerhouses that comes out of country's crash will result in gold and silver.
