I have 900 dollars to invest? should I spread it out amongst the top 5 or 10 coins on the market? or drop all of it into BTC ive been considering the latter.

I mean it's your money but with only $900 I'd go all in on a riskier play. If you think the bullrun is coming then I'd say go btc then move it to eth then alts but too early to tell imo.

Don't do that. I've lost tens of thousands on alt coins. Just buy BTC and ETH.
Some people on here wouldn't care if they lost $900 but it's probably a lot to you.
