They got hacked for $200-300 million worth of tokens. All of the ampl tokens on kucoin included. Ampl is among one of the tokens that has not compensated kucoin with free coins to make up for the hack, so you still can't withdraw ampl from kucoin. This has caused the price disparity to be huge between kucoin and uniswap and killed the volume even further. Also it fucks up the rebasing mechanism since it still counts kucoin when it calculates the rebase
