Can anons enlighten me on where they went wrong in their careers so I don't fuck up the same? What's worth studying, and what's just a waste of time? I was thinking of studying computer science

>bothering with a career
I unironically wish i took risks with any money i had earlier. Fuck traditional investments. Buy shitcoins.

Don't study engineering, I'm making too much money and don't like to share.

First of all why do you want a career? It is not that difficult to get enough money to provide for a family sitting on your computer at home doing what you want, and after $100k more money doesn't make you any happier it transforms into a status game where you're competing for dominance with money as the tool, it's an irrelevant competition though and might as well be ignored since at the top you'll always be alone. So unless some career is where you want to be why would you put yourself in debt for no reason? You're actually delaying your wealth by going to college instead of beginning to save.

Try to find something that/is

>Challenging/Stimulating (being bored at work is a new kind of hell)
>Provides you satisfaction (learn to differentiate this from fun)
>Normies think is black magic
>Doesn't pidgeonhole you too hard into one industry - transferrable skills and flexibility to go your own way
>Pays relatively well
>Plays to your strengths/interests

Now I understand figuring out the above is much easier said than done, but do make an effort to think about these things before going into debt. If you arent sure study something in a general direction with transferrable units/credits, look at any overlap between degrees (i.e. if you like programming pick compsci/software eng/comp eng, 1st year will probably be similar).

Alternatively you can just pick the answer that is right in front of you, Electrical Engineering

Unless you really love programming and you do it for fun in your free time, you are not going to make it in compsci. I hated that shit. Not the programming, but the business putting pressure on you to cut corners. Programming was midly interesting so I made decent money but I know I can't keep it up because I find it exhausting.

If you are going to do it, make sure you can get a job that pays well so you can get out early.

if you are going to be a programmer, or any related field, skip college, see if you like it first and then start grinding as much as possible, online tutorials etc, every fucking day for the next 6 months, after you have build enough projects to show, start looking for a job, while you keep learning. its gonna be tiresome but it's the way it is.

$100k isn't even that much. I'd put the minimum at like $200k-$300k where you can buy a house with no mortgage.
