I actually already "made it", but barely, I have enough money to stay out of the streets for the rest of my life, but that is only if I live in the most absolute and brutal frugal mode, eating out or buying something nice is out of my reach.

I keep multiple grades of "making it" so that I can always be satisfied.

Grade 1 - saving approximately 400k, moving to a cheap but safe part of the country, buying a ~200k home, putting the other half in safe funds, working part-time two days a week, able to dedicate most of my life to hobbies/myself and continue building my wealth

Grade 2 - saving approximately 750k, being able to quit work entirely and maintain my cheap standard of living with a steady effortless income of ~20k/yr, diversifying a portion of my wealth into riskier but higher-yield ventures, and ideally begin converting my hobby into a tiny business

Grade 3 - saving approximately 1.5m, able to hire contractors to outsource certain elements of my business and go more professional

Grade 4 - saving approximately 5m, able to go big with my dreams and make a real name for myself

I think grade 1 is fairly attainable within two years for me, although I have a pretty satisfying career right now so it's not like I'm desperate; might skip it and keep grinding until grade 2. Grade 2 is a pretty simple time function assuming the world economy doesn't collapse (which could still be very profitable for a cheap-ass like me if history is any indication). Grade 3 probably won't happen until I'm in my late 50s if ever and grade 4 assumes that I have talent outside of being frugal, which is questionable, but they're decent rough milestones and not impossible.
