Whether you have a central bank print paper money, or have the government do it directly, MMT and socialism are just as evil.

For weeks now, every thread has had infiltrators from /pol/ virtue-signalling about Jews in every post, triple-bracketing every other word, promoting socialist, neo-Nazi, Greenbacker rubbish like A History of Central Banking and the Enslavement of Mankind. Expect those whom you attack to fight you back.

Sure, I'm not saying don't buy them. But they may be on sale before too long. I'm sitting on the sidelines with dry powder because I don't think we are done with big time downside risk. I also think yields are going to crash. So my conservative approach is to put half my cash in TLT (long term treasuries EFT) waiting for the treasury short squeeze while the other half is waiting for the next fire sale. And obviously, I'm staying near the entrance/exit in case the wind shifts. But right now, I think stimulus is off the table until December and maybe even into 2021 depending on what a colossal disaster this election turns into with lawsuit after lawsuit.

Ok I found some spoons and knives with this mark on them. I am unfamiliar with "Mexican Silver 67" with some kind of templar cross on it.

this is why the periodic buys, while saving cash on hand for big dips, is the best strategy.

You never miss out on the upside, you get to capitalize on the downsides, and the only trade off is that you will slightly under perform someone who perfectly times the market. Basically no one perfectly times the market outside of blind luck/insiders.

No that's good stuff, I like scrapping it, but it's just formed silver sheet filled with pitch or plaster/cement so most weight is just filler. Yields as low as 8% for the worst weighted candle holders, up to over 50% for good quality s&p shakers, sugar/creamer sets etc. Always buy it if you come across it cheap.

I'll need to get back to you on that. I seem to remember reading that the alpaca alloy contained 2% silver but don't quote me. There are lots of different types of plate like quadruple or community but most value is still just in the nickel and copper in the alloys. "Silver soldered" stuff is kinda like the sterling inlaid flatware; just fancier silver plate and not worth getting unless basically free. Nickel silver alloy is worth more than copper and can be sold to some scrap yards, so $0.50 teapots and other big things are worth grabbing if you have a local scrap buyer.

Ah eBay, yeah that can be dangerous if you're not experienced with weighted items, however weighted sterling is pretty common at Goodwill/thrift shops and IRL sales so if you see any cheap grab it up and get some hands-on experience breaking it down. >gold-filled jewelry

Certainly, and that's actually a very good option for scrappers who prefer gold. Fold-filled items are often vintage/antique and generally have a thick shell of a stated weight like "1/10 14k" over a copper based core, so the gold filled items can be cut up then soaked in acid to dissolve (convert to soluble salts) the base metals, leaving the quality gold foil which can be refined further. Old gold-filled pocket watch cases are awesome heavy and sometimes overlooked sources, way better than jillions of little lapel pins and whatnot.

I collect it but haven't ran a batch yet, got the chems but I'm much more interested in silver for now. Definitely pick it up if you see it dirt cheap.

I mean, depends on what you understand under mainstream. Demand increases from people who can purchase gold, or silver from that matter. Bear in mind though that most people are fiscally illiterate and irresponsible, meaning they won't get in until it's on the moon. Therefore I don't see how can it become truly mainstream since most people don't have any savings anyway.

Besides we all saw what happened in March. If it truly goes viral, mints will struggle to meet demand, rendering physical almost impossible to get, unless you preorder months in advance. So I suspect normies would head to ETFs.

Got some saved youtube vids which I can dig up but other anons are more expert with furnace and crucible work, I dabble and have cast some simple things but am not experienced. I bring my cleaned and crushed scrap to a nearby refinery, you could refine it yourself theoretically, but not economically at a personal or hobby scale as far as I can determine.

And don't be envious or put up mental barriers, anyone can trawl the newly listed BIN (buy it now) "sterling" eBay listings in the antiques category for cheapies. If you sort by most recent first and are among the first people to see a listing then you have a better chance of grabbing fire sale deals. Look at the most recently sold BIN-only "sterling" listings in the antiques category and you'll see the sort of deals that get listed and then quickly purchased. Honestly, spending a half hour looking at what us scrappers are actually buying would be extremely educational, so give it a shot and good luck scrapping!

Gold filled jewelry is a layer of gold foil over a base metal piece of jewelry. The layer of gold foil is measured in hundredths of an inch instead of literal microns like gold plated. Gold filled was the way for the average wagecuck to get gold jewelry at an affordable price before they had gold plating.

Oh look I'm doing it again. They really look fine though.

>gaslight: the post

Except he's right.

Obviously there are tons of fakes for ignorant boomers and zoomers to navigate, but eBay is also the best source bar-none for great deals if you're not a dingus and actually know your coins or whatever else.

I got everything in-hand off eBay, all genuine, and could sell it all within a week for approximately 2.5x what I paid. More if I had more time. Greedy boomers will stuff themselves on fake Athenian owl tetradrachms bought for "awesome deals" way below market, then just like whoever bought .999 German Silver and FUDs eBay here they eventually realize they're retarded and bought ancient chocolate, then cope by shilling endlessly all over the internet about how absolutely everything on eBay is fake. It gets old.

If you're retarded then yes please stay away, but if your head is screwed on straight you can study your subject and become your own expert. It's not hard if you're genuinely interested.

I don't buy over priced metals from places like that, the wife and I , we aren't actually married but we have been together for 17-18 years and that is what we decided for the price of a fucking ring we would each get one oz of gold instead of paying that much for 5-10 grams of gold in each ring.

Ancient coins are a minefield for noobs, especially if you haven't handled or studied genuine ancient coins before. The coin is wrong on so many levels to an experienced eye but it's hard to explain. That antiquiti seller is a God awful notorious seller of fake coins and artifacts and has probably made millions. Avoid everything from them like the plague.

Instead check these legit Alexander tetradrachm coins from legit dealers. Study their genuine inventory a while and you'll get a better sense for what real ancient coins look like. If you buy cheap ancients from denant or Lanz or other trustworthy dealers you'll be safe.

No stigma, for my refinery the cost to get pure bars back (or the payout percentage if you're selling) is the same for anything over 70% pure. Lower purity stuff uses more chems/consumables so costs more to refine but any normal alloys you're likely to encounter will be perfectly good scrap.

Placer yes, for the most part. Placer claims on their own are cheap, $100 a cell = 40 hectares. Bonds can be a bit nuts for heavy equipment activity but not insane. My hard rock claims are different, I rarely mine those myself, I usually prove them up enough to either sell off to someone else or lease / option off too a junior miner for a percentage of smelter returns or other financial options. This hard rock gold claim I have from above pics I am keeping though, that I can mine by hand without trouble.

Silver and gold do have a largely tied relationship (as they have throughout history), and for most of modern history the gold:silver ratio has been ~1:15, at the moment it's something like 1:60, so historically silver is immensely undervalued. As >>23255155
said, silver has a higher potential upside than gold.

However, I'm probably in the minority here but I prefer buying gold. Silver's main historical use was as everyday currency (along with copper) and it is unlikely to ever regain that role in a globalised digital world. Gold still holds its place as a store of wealth, hence why most governments keep large gold reserves even while they mess with the value of their currencies and extort the public through inflation. In reality with UBI, negative interest rates and digital currencies around the corner, gold and silver are both decent investments at the moment. Hell, China has been dumping their USD and buying commodities at an astonishing rate, which is why iron, copper, lumber etc prices are rising and rising.

This project is permitted and basically ready to go, my only worry is that with pit grades of 0.94 gpt investors might not be interested in them, investors are after those huge bananas numbers like what Skeena is pulling out, not small grade but massive workable area. They will likely have to partner with a bigger company to work this spot.

I know mate, I just don't see the ratio dropping by that much any time soon cause I don't see the industrial demand for silver skyrocketing anytime soon. Sure, there's a lot of noise about green tech from companies that shill green tech, but that's all reliant on government subsidies, and I think with the global economy going into recession govs are gonna be trying the classic BS of investing in infrastructure.

When I was starting out I stacked a lot of silver, because it's easier to stack silver than gold cause it's cheaper, but the more I read and look at the world I think stacking a bit more gold and a bit less silver is the better strategy.
Who knows, I could be wrong, and I'd be happy to be because I do stack silver, but I just don't see silver being as relevant as gold in our modern world.

1) more affordable to buy
2) clearly undervalued based on the historical GS ratio
3) it's industrial use is expected to significantly increase (EV, solar)

So i mostly just buy silver since it's the better option. I don't focus on the ratio too much, but I should increase gold holdings just a bit. Maybe 80:1 is good, 100:1 is probably even better because of the reasons listed above. Sorry if my grammar is shit, phoneposting and tired af

I don't see EV being a factor for a least another decade or two because they're too unaffordable to become mainstream, and unless we have them forced upon us through agenda 21 or whatever it is, oil is going to remain cheaper for many decades.

Yes, silver is historically undervalued, I absolutely agree, but it doesn't serve the same purpose that it did historically as everyday currency. Without that purpose, it is essentially reliant on industrial uses, which certainly are valid, but silver is currently outpriced by copper and I think it will remain so for the time being. I think most anons here stack silver simply because it is more affordable than gold (especially when premiums are considered). Believe me when I say that's not an insult or anything, I started out stacking a lot of silver too, but I think it's easy (especially in pmg) to get caught up buying silver and ignoring gold.

I know the feeling mate, I've been locked at home (melbourne) for most of this year when all I wanna do is get back to some good old spots in central vic.
