Why is every link breakout crushed down extremely hard? Who is selling? Also, that must be expensive, don't tell me they're accumulating

>> No.23054516

The people selling are those who burrow on leverage for the express purpose of making money on a sale.

/int/ here, decided to get into crypto a week ago, what does liquidating mean?

>> No.23054733

>>23054655
In general, when longing or shorting with leverage you borrow money to buy the underlying. For this you deposit a collateral. If the underlying moves roo much in the opposite direction of your bet, your collateral isn't enough to sustain your debt anymore, and is eaten. You're liquidated

Just supply and demand. People always want to invoke stupid bullshit like price suppression, when it's just that link is a speculative asset. It dumps when traders take profit, and they tend to take profit on pumps, so pumps get crushed. Ezpz. Only when a big hype rally gets going can the price really break out. Just relax and hold.

>> No.23055104

>>23054489
In the instance of today it looks more correlated to the slight dump BTC took. Given the general uncertainty in all markets at the moment, most ALTs are looking at BTC to make a move first and any change in the direction of the wind is felt across the board.

This might just be my small brain, but I don't think shorts can get liquidated...Longs can get liquidated on the way down, but don't shorts just infinitely lose value? As I understand it, the same affect of liquidation occurs when your stop loss is triggered or if you can pay the premiums?

short term traders trading on margin
you have swing traders, scalpers, etc. all trying to trade in different ranges and signals
the price just takes the path of least resistance either up or down

That's not how a short squeeze works bro. The people shorting realize their shorts are going to shit, sell, and the by into whatever asset it is they initially shorted to recoup losses, which explains the massive amount of volume leading up to $20. Am I missing something?

Sure. If you want more, did around for "How to beat the market makers", by Steve Munro. He charges 3k, but you can kinda steal it, if you're stubburn enough. Also "Technical Analisys", by John J. Murphy, pretty good.

Hey so get this. I heard a rumor that due to the volatility in the markets, the fundamentals for LINK have changed greatly. In this it was apparent that Chainlink was never meant to be used as a currency, but rather as a protocol.

ChainLink is a decentralized network of nodes that provide data and information from off-blockchain sources to on-blockchain smart contracts via oracles. The Chainlink Aggregating Contract takes all the data from the chosen oracles and validates and/or reconciles it for an accurate result. For the most accurate result, the Chainlink protocol would be far more effective if it were tethered at $1. To achieve this, the team is working with exchanges to lower the price until it reaches this threshold.

It depends what you are referring to when saying short. Here I was referring to short seller that borrow money to sell an asset they don't have, hoping it will drop, buy it back lower, and reimburse their debt with this, they can then pocket the delta. In that case they can be liquidated. Maybe you were referring to people buying options, like puts, these will lose value and yes they don't get liquidated, they just get stuck with a worthless option and don't exercise it and lose the option cost.

Well son, someone uses USDT settled futures to bet on a lower price. Then they sell a ton of LINK to crash the price. They then collect their USDT award and repurchase the LINK at the lower price and keep the difference. This is more profitable and less risky than going long.
