Everyone raises chickens. They have no value. $5 for a Costco rotisserie chicken. Very little profit. Most chicken farm owners make wage slave money like 50k a year. What you want to do is make things that have value. Like when they sell avocado dip for $20.

i know what you mean but from what ive heard the chicken farmers dont actually butcher the chicken, perdue or whoever comes buy with a huge truck and picks up the chickens every 6 weeks. you just feed them and give them a place to grow. perdue provide feed

They control the feed which means they control the size of your chickens. And they pay based on a non-linear scaling formula which means you get more for big chickens and way way less for smaller than average chickens. It's all a huge fucking scam. Watch Super Size Me 2, it explains the current situation of big chicken having chicken farmers by the nutsack and keeping them basically in a cycle of perpetual poverty and debt.

The documentary I saw was about how people started sabotaging their neighbors because Perdue has a system where it cuts off the lowest achieving suppliers. Once you fall behind on production (sickness, breakdown etc) you are likely to get cut off and lose ur income all at once.

It seems nice at first since they provide u with chickens and feed, but the quota demands they make regarding weights and timelines can get stressful as fuck.

I work on a chicken farm btw lol (Not usa)

>$5 for a Costco rotisserie chicken. Very little profit.
>he thinks costco or walmart sells the rotisserie chicken at a loss for a profit

everybody eats chicken. fried chicken shops couldnt get enough chicken for their chicken sandwiches. you can make decent amount of money (200k+ a year) selling them if you do it large scale.
A cornish chicken can reach 12 pounds in 2 months and can sell for around $10. You can raise thousands of chickens at a time in one of those buildings, while at a chicken farm you can have multiple buildings.

I think USA has 4 of these big chicken chains.

All it means to me is that the market is already quite saturated. Farmers acting like Uber drivers almost.

In my country there are very little large scale poultry organisations, So prices are quite good and small companies still have chance to get into the game. Problem with the US model is that anyone can get into chicken rearing since all u need to buy is the infrastructure. But problem is they provide your feed and chickens. You have no way of reducing your overheads by formulating or storing your own feed.

Big corporations basically turned farming into pajeet level occupation. They take all the profit, all you get is market priced chickens.

>All it means to me is that the market is already quite saturated.
i dont think it is saturated. raising chickens requires you to own a big piece of land and most people cant even afford their home let alone land.
>You have no way of reducing your overheads by formulating or storing your own feed.
as far as i know, the grower doesnt pay for feed

>> No.23053748

Good way to make money with chicken farm.

Have your own feed mill
Grow and cull your own chickens
Market and package your own brand
Do your own deliveries

If you take part in the above operations you have multiple avenues of reducing your overheads and increasing income. Are you considering Layers or Broilers?

no, that's dogshit. 100K gross maybe. Most chicken farmers aren;t doing well at all. Most near me rely on federal buyups and still are in the red year-on-year.

It's also non-trivial to get into. people look down on Ag jobs as being easy but there's a reason people still go get degrees in Ag. If you don't have experience doing it, you won't know your ass from a hole in the ground.

everything is an option when you run one of those farms. you can take the easy route and buy everything ready, or you can of course find alternatives. no one is forcing you to use their feed, or buy their chickens. it's just that the alternative is the more expensive option

There are farmers, and then there are chicken farmers. I have relatives that run chicken farms. They make good money, but of course it depend on the location. There are a limite number of chicken farms, and they dont often go on sale! if you think chickens aren't selling, that's complete BS. Of course certain people and certain areas eat more chicken than other meats, thats why some areas have more KFCs and other chicken places, but they ALWAYS sell. It's not like people get quarantined and stop buying chicken.

I supply the feed. Yes it looks piss easy. You can pretty much set up anywhere. Chicken products are a growth sector and you can hire polish people.

Smaller farms are a little less profitable but it's not alot of work once set off. Big ass farms make insane profits for farming, but you have to sell your soul.

I'm not sure about the cost of setting up a farm. buildings are actually not that expensive though! you can have one giant metal building like in OPs pic built for under $100k, and cost of land.

chickenization is a thing for a reason
they don't tell you the prices until you load them off
you can only sell to one of three companies depending on where you are based
they regulate every last detail on how to run your coop
the prices are calculated algorithmically to make you just as miserable as possible and lose money every year
all this while keeping you in debt bondage
if you don't comply no one will buy your stuff
even talking to you could get them thrown out
highest suicide rate

>all this while keeping you in debt bondage
that would be the biggest mistake with most people
going in with debt would make anything difficult
but being regulated, controlled, and systematic is not a bad thing here because this is food production, so it needs to be overseen.
what it does do though is limit what you can do in the process, but this also forcibly simplifies your options and actually really makes it basic enough that anyone can do it.
In the end what your main responsibly ends up being is keeping the chickens fed and clean. everything else basically happens by itself. and the amount of money you make comes down to how many chickens you raise, it's not going to be a big surprise.
