It's because of the copper content in the alloy used in US gold coins. Modern Canadian gold is pure and yellow. Not ideal from a purity standpoint but the american bullion coin would hold up to circulation better.

No it wasn't. The US dollar was an amount of silver/gold which was held in reserves somewhere. The private banks then issued their own notes which were (nominally) redeemable in specie. There was no "issuer" of US dollars, because the "US Dollar" wasn't an actual thing. They issued money substitutes, not money which is an essential point. Private banks couldn't create US dollars after the SBUS expired, they could issue claims on their banks. i sold some Silver coins to an LCs once near a high point around 2011 or so.
pretty much barely got spot price for uncirculated beautiful near mint ASEs and some damn nice Peace dollars.
none of them were "Numismatic" dates or mint marks so they're only looked at as nice bullion.

In the case of Gold Eagles, it’s due to the trace elements of other metals in the alloy used to make the gold blanks. They use a little bit of copper (to strengthen it) and silver (to add to the its brilliance). The AGEs end up being .999 pure

In the case of Gold Buffalos, they’re struck in pure 24k gold blanks. They have a purity of .9999 as opposed to the AGEs so you’re technically getting more gold per ounce with the Buffalos but don’t ever try to fondle Buffalos due to the malleability of pure gold.

One thing to ponder on during a stock market deflation would be whether or not to sell part of the stack and buy stonks on sale, or buy back the bullion when stonks start inflating again. Because any crash might lead to the big debt bubble bursting, which would bring about depression and if the gov handles it well, it will lead into huge currency inflation, at which point I would regret liquidating any of my metals.

Awesome! You'd be able to get bullion returned from a refinery at less than 20/oz total which is my rule of thumb right now. It takes work but you're succeeding and certainly gaining valuable experience and knowledge which will make you a better hunter/picker each time you go out.

You may hear people crowing about awesome deals (like me and my 926 gram asw $4 platter from Goodwill) but they take plenty of legwork and unremarkable deals in-between that you don't hear so much about. Keep hunting and you'll eventually find a monster score or 2 that truly feels like stumbling on treasure, it's just a matter of odds, stupid good deals are rare but I absolutely guarantee that they're out there. I personally think spot will go down now that stimulus is being added again soon but I might be wrong. In any case, it's possible that bullion coin dealers won't be offering any better prices even if spot goes down. The best time to buy PMs is now because it's a long term hedge investment -- you don't buy physical metal hoping for a huge profit, you invest hoping to guard against economic crises, and nobody knows when the next big one comes crashing the whole thing.

Ridiculous comparison. Au described as "slight wear on highest points" and there is clearly a large scratch over a large portion of the coin. I know I did not cause the damage because I never removed from flips they sent the coin in until I looked at it. It is clear the detail is high other than the obvious damage of this scratch. How does a .9 coin even get a scratch this badly
