I think Tornado.Cash is lying about the gas fees it charges. To deposit .1 ETH $35usd costs .14 ETH $50usd. Gas right now is $.79usd for a normal transaction. They are saying that their zk-SNARKs roll-up function costs $49usd in gas? It costs that much in gas to deposit into a super complicated contract in a Yvault. I'm willing to bet the zk-SNARKs function costs $10usd and they are pocketing the rest.

You guys have any insight?

well $50 to clean your rug pulls? thats pretty cheap! you can try buccV2

not touching Bucc, I don't trust that at all. It's centralized and the dev can exit scam without holders even knowing.

What I need to know is how much is the real gas costs of doing a zk-SNARKs transaction on ethereum is an if they are padding it.

I read that nearly four years ago in testing that the gas cost would be about 1.9 million but now with Istanbul the gas cost is estimated at 1 million. Can anyone confirm this?

>> No.22930180

1 million gas today would be about .1 ETH, not the .14 ETH they are charging. I suspect they upgraded Tornado to version 2 with lower gas fees but never passed the savings on to users.

why would they give a shit about giving an extra 40% to miners? and you really think they introduced/kept random logic just to take more gas?

>> No.22930369

>>22930293
nonono, I am saying they take .1 eth for gas and .4 eth for themselves with over 178k ETH that have been deposited since inception.

>> No.22930395

so let's say 100k transactions x .4 ETH= 40k ETH

>> No.22930412

sorry 4k ETH, $1,421,760

The contract is open source, low iq post.
The deposit is expensive because it builds a merkle tree.

>> No.22930494

>>22930455
Yes, I am deploying the contract myself to verify but I want to get a second opinion. One of their devs confirmed the zk-SNARKs gas cost is 1 million, so where is the rest of the money going?

no one would notice when gas is low and the price of ETH is low. Now that things have changed, the fees don't add up. They will need to switch to v3 and memory hole it.
