For small account stuff I've been messing around lately with scalping big moves in high volume stocks at the open. Today I made some easy money with OXBR and AMBO just waiting for sudden drops and selling the bounce. Easy 5% per play. That's something that could build an account pretty fast. I circled a couple of example on the OXBR in pic related. That's almost the exact strategy I used in crypto. I just waited for a big sudden drop on a high volume coin and bought it then immediately sold the bounce. Once I got the hang of it I turned 10k into 100k within 3 months then just went from there. The main reason I quit is the volume and liquidity in crypto dried up. I believe the same strategy will work in stocks though and I've had a 100% success rate with it so far. Maybe it could work for you and if so it would build your account a hell of a lot faster than buying blue chips. Another alternative is either 3x ETFs or options.

When I started I just listened to what my Aunt told me, and I think she was taking Dave Ramsay's advice, but anyway I just split my money into 4 ETFs. A Mid Cap, a Large Cap, and a Software & IT ETF. You could also just invest in SPY or VOO, which are market ETFs. Gains were small, but losses were small, too, and it was comfy and reliable. I moved on from that and trade stocks now, but until you know what you are doing you might want to try that. Maybe look up Dave Ramsay's advice to get a better idea of what I'm talking about. And I'm not really saying listen to him, but just to get you thinking.

it takes 2 days for a trade to settle. idk about robinhood but some brokers like schwab give you some leeway on selling settled positions and immediately buying new positions with that cash, but they'll hit you with a good faith violation if you subsequently sell that position, bought with unsettled funds, before it settles. imo this makes it so if you don't use options (which require a margin account) a cash account is more convenient as long as you have enough settled cash for the day trades you want to do.

I pay careful attention to support and level 2. I look for a price that the stock has visited before and when it gets to that price, I look for level 2 to stall out. Sometimes it doesn't and just keeps falling but when it stalls I throw a limit order in as quickly as possible and never market order cuz with these low float penny style stocks you can get fucked hard by a market maker. People joke about the state/civil service jobs but in today's current fucked up mess where people are getting fired and going on unemployment thanks to the virus those with state/federal jobs are still employed. Hell I'm a state worker and I've been "semi retired" for 6 months now. I only work as needed but I'm still getting paid as if I worked full time. Like a 6 month vacation to me. Just 11 years to go till my full retirement day hits. 50 years old and retired with a pension and 401 till I die. (w/medical and brokerage + cash in the bank on the side) Also no debt other than a house.
