xDai is dPOS so it'll inevitably end up in the hands of a few like all the other dPOS chains and once those bridges secure contracts with tokens numbering +$millions they will buy a majority of the multisig for the bridges and steal the tokens locked up in them.

why one someone lock millions of liquidity into a PoA network? and they "KYC" system of their faucet is absolutely ridiculous, such that the distribution of the token is awfully skewed towards a small group of people who validated thousands of their own pictures.
It's funny that xDai only gained traction after they claimed to start working on optimistic rollups, even though their current system is everything but that.

My understanding is the token doesn't sit in the bridge, the bridge just converts and returns the tokens to your wallet. I'd like more info on your post though in case I'm wrong, can you post some more info/examples?
