It's less based on age and more based on net worth. Personally that's a minimum net-worth of 3mil (with 500k-1mil of that being a house).

If I hit that number before retirement age (let's say I hit it at 40) then I'd probably just change careers into something that doesn't pay well but is more fulfilling than an office job.
