If a dentist ever says you have more than one cavity, get a second opinion. Some dentists will drill and fill anything that looks like it might be the beginnings of a cavity, but cavities CAN be reversed once they begin. My main dentists just does good preventive care. When I went to a different dentist once, he said I had 8 cavities, which is simply false. That was 12 years ago and I haven't had any work done since and my mouth is fine. Some dentists will try to fuck you.

The reason they get that way is for lack of proper tongue posturing on the palate leading to mouth breathing, too many soft foods and not enough tough, nutrient dense animal foods. Returning to these practices would've gently widened your palate and made a bit more space to relieve the pain, but obviously once you're past early childhood there's only so much you can do. Your children can still be saved though by closing their mouths, never feeding soft foods, and making them stand straight. Crooked teeth are not genetic.
