Primarily for risk mitigation:

Daytrading is risky. Let's say I'm daytrading tsla. If I buy 100 shares, I'm paying around 40k with the downward potential 40k. If I buy one option, I'll pay between 2.5 - 4k depending on time / itm etc with a limited loss of the premium (2.5 - 4k).

Also, as mentioned, when you use options you open up the whole market to you. I would never ever be able to daytrade amazon on my 50k trading account (started with 24k btw). It becomes available to me with options, and I traded it quite successfully today
