No one is saying Sanctification, Obedience, perseverance and surrendering to Jesus are unimportant. They are important. They are just NOT a requirement of Salvation.

To be saved, you must be humble enough to admit that because you are a sinner and fall short of God's standard, there is nothing you could do on your own to earn salvation. Salvation is a free gift of God, paid in full by Christ's death on the cross.

Believing on Jesus - meaning believing that he is the ONLY reason why you are justified - is what gets you to heaven. People call that "easy believism" and scoff at those who think that. But really, it takes humility to accept that there is nothing in your power to be saved. And that is why most people reject the simplicity of the Gospel.

But if you say that you need to persevere, do good, turn away from sin etc. in order to be saved, that is works-based salvation. And if you want to follow that path, then you will be judged according to your works. And no one can live up to the standard of the law.

"Grace" is grace because you don't deserve it. Period.

Just a quick note - when the Bible uses the word "repent" in the context of salvation, it means a 'change of mind'. Every other religion says you need to be good to be saved (or get to nirvana or attain a higher caste etc). Only the Bible teaches Grace. To believe in Jesus IS repentance from your pride - thinking that you are a good person - to understanding that you need God and God alone to be made worthy.

Obedience to Jesus comes as a requirement of fellowship. Perseverance, is a requirement of fellowship. So yes, turn away from sin by all means. But that has nothing to do with wether you are saved or not.

I doubt there would be a buyback. Rather you’d just see the value of an XRP hit some level where individual investors would seek to sell.

One of Ripple’s goal is to replace the antiquated way banks “talk” to each other.

Banks need to talk to each other in order to process transactions between themselves.

For “easy” transactions a decent system exists (think ACHs in the US) but for “hard” transactions it’s fucked.

Let’s say you were visiting Bangkok wanted to pay a Thai Ladyboy to fuck you in the ass but all you had was Canadian dollars at an small Canadian bank account back home. You got a problem as MingLee wants Bhat, not CAD - and more to the point - your banks got to figure out a way to change CAD to THB.

The way it’s currently done is Scotia’s got to talk with one (or more!) intermediary banks between itself and Thailand in order to make the transaction go through. Each time a new bank is brought on and/or an intermediary country has to be used, it adds costs and complexity.

The bigger the bank, the more resources it can devote to solving this issue but the smaller banks are left out in the cold. JPM, BoA, Scotia, Wells, etc., all have a big enough operation to absorb the costs of running these relationships across all the world’s countries but the smaller guys (credit unions, regional banks, etc.) can’t compete as they don’t have the fat to support the overhead.

Ripple’s seeking to change this: if they can get all banks - especially the smaller ones - onboard with using XRP to talk to any other bank, XRP can then be used to move value throughout the world far more quickly and cheaply than the existing system of your bank talking to another bank, which talks to another bank in another country, to talk to yet another bank in yet another country, etc...

This means Ripple’s got a vested interest in keeping XRP stable for the time being as the key to making it work is getting enough critical mass of FI’s onboard so the XRP network has massive breadth.

The public’s perception of the value of XRP is suddenly changed.

Assuming of course people believed the IMF had the gold to back up the XRP, people would view 1 XRP as a proxy for 1oz Ag and this is what would flip the switch.

It for those who feel a flare drop will taint a wallet for whatever reasons,

If this is a concern, you use 1 wallet with XRP to capture the flare drop then use an exchange to opaquely move the XRP from the flare’d wallet to a non-flare’d wallet after they take the snapshot.

I personally don’t think they’ll blacklist based on flare airdrops but to each their own.

I’ve always envisioned the switch as ODL being turned on with enough banks instantly needing to begin transferring money.
First step of ODL is more or less the equivalent of a market buy for XRP with Y currency.
Huge buy wall drives up the price in a relatively short period of time with not enough public sell orders to even come close to matching it. More action in ODL means more necessity for higher market caps.
Don’t get me wrong, an announcement like that would be excellent. I just don’t know that “the switch” is something that simple and painless
