When (not if) DOT has a $10 billion MC, KSM will have a $1 billion MC.

The expected ratio for token distribution will be Staking:Parachainbonding:Circulation = 3:2:1

Ergo, DOT: $5B for Staking, $3.3B for Parachain Bonding, and $1.6B for token circulation.

It is expected Parachain slots for both DOT and KSM will be 100 slots in future.

There will probably be 100 parachain slots for DOT & KSM.

When the allocation for Parachains start there will be $3.3B divided by 100 Parachains = $33M / Parachain

Ergo, $33,000,000 will be the expected price for a Parachain slot.

Not every Parachain can afford this price.

If we look at KSM, it's going to be 10% of that, or $3.3/parachain. Far cheaper.


Substrate base chains who want to be a Parachain but don't have $33 million will start on Kusama first.

If they become popular, they'll move to DOT, or stay on KSM.

I think most Parachians who start on KSM will remain on KSM as the throughput will be enough.

Kusama was once used because it was cheaper.
now after DOT x1000 it is cheaper to develop directly on Polkadot.
Kusama is more expensive, it will become useless, fine for speculation in the medium term
