That was my original plan too, but then I actually looked at VOO vs. VUG, and compared that with QQQ... - and compare the performance of any of them with a portfolio of (relatively obvious) growth mega-cap stocks.
Maybe it's greedy, but I figure if the next 10 years are similar to the last 10, I'd kick myself if I get 'only' 10% annual returns and miss out again.
Especially, when I compare even losses on a day like this, and I see how many of the stocks I have already invested in or plan to invest in over the next months have been doing better than VOO (e.g. AMD, NVDA, MA, V, etc.) or are down by roughly the same amount.

Ultimately, it's going to hurt me a lot less if I lose half my money than if could have made a million dollars or more and my returns are only a fraction of that.

Look at the recently mentioned HD for example: 10 years ago HD was around 30$, today it's at almost 280$. That's an increase of over 800%! You can play the same game with V or MA or MSFT or a whole host of relatively safe big name stocks that were focused on growth.
I figure with those gains, even if each year half your stocks underperform, the rest would easily make up for it.

Of course, you could be right and the tides change soon, and we won't see gains like that ever again in our lifetime (at least not for big stocks like that). But that's why I say, losing half my money would probably trouble me less than feeling like I missed out on a golden opportunity like that.
Also, it should be said, in years when value stocks outperform growth, the difference tends to be a lot smaller, while growth when it is ahead, it's raking in massively more gains.
