Minecraft is the second best-selling video game of all time. It was released in 2009 and has since sold 121 million copies. Tetris, the best-selling video game of all time, was around for 30 years longer and has only sold 50 million or so more copies than Minecraft.

At the rate Minecraft is selling, it will surpass Tetris and become the best-selling video game of all time within 10 years or less. And don't try to tell me that it won't, because the game is still being updated, and it's still growing - they sell almost 6,000 copies a day for PC/Mac.

That in mind, Minecraft integrating mining DGB to servers (through a plugin, but still) is a fantastic avenue to bring cryptocurrency to the masses. It may not be bitcoin, but if it's possible to buy other gaming related things with a currency that can be earned while gaming, that currency immediately has a fantastic widespread use.

As I said already the game has sold 121 million copies and sells 6000 per day. Even if only 3% of people who bought it still played, that's well over 3 million.

I know that the 121 million copies is across all platforms, not just the PC/Mac/Linux platforms, which are the only ones relevent to PC. But 26M copies have been sold for PC/Mac.
