Work in specialty chemicals and to be clear I add a lot of value to my clients, I just don't need to grind 80 hour weeks to do it.

Before lockdown I did a shitload more travelling so I guess my week was a lot more "filled out" with stuff that takes up time but doesn't really generate money. Everyone is on zoom, teams, skype etc now so it really cuts down on wasted hours since I can just do meetings in my underpants.

It usually comes down to 2 things - you live in a city that has a lot of contract work opportunities, and you've proven yourself already to some customers.

For me I had to work a shitty job effectively working as a consultant but on a terrible salary. Once I got enough skill built up I jumped to a contract position and now make $300k. It took 8 years though.

Its funny because honestly when we get you guys in its either a hit or miss in your work ethic.

My organisation has hired over a thousand contractors, mainly from EY and KMPG.

I swear some of you are borderline retarded - like actually fucking stupid. How can you not fill out a basic form that we ask you. Its like you don't even read it or anything. Don't complain your not getting paid if you haven't even bothered to follow the correct process.

Other than that, all EY lawyers I've met personally are based as fuck and friendly as fuck. As basically the office autist you guys were the only people who spoke to me. Running into one of them is one of the few people I genuinely like running into.

Keep up the good work guys, but please just fill out your forms for onboarding processes correctly.

I work with social workers and therapists. The memes about social workers being morons when it comes to most things is no joke. Case managers are even worse. Was able to WFH, but my hours are now cut to 20 falong with a lot of non essential coworkers, since we aren’t the ones billing clients). Pay is awful but I want to continue to work in healthcare tech. I don’t have a lot of student loan debts, I went to community college then a cheap state uni. Big 10 school in my state has a cake walk (32 credits) masters program for healthcare IT that I’m going to apply to. I can expect 15-20k more, plus I’ll have to take some cs classes, which I realized is what I should have majored in instead of some meme degree.
