Hi! I don't know the first thing about stocks and trading, but I need cash and figure I'll try my hand in the market. I'm young and want to start off with small investments, >$1k for now as I don't have much cash. What are some trustworthy sites I can use to trade stock and make money off the markets?

Also what is your approach to trading and investing? I'm not trying to make it big like some fool, but if I can make $5k trading that'd be sick!

dont invest more than $100 the first time. pretend the $100 is $100k, and trade accordingly and see how you do. At the same time read the 2 books Beginners Guide to Stock Market and The Intelligent Investor. after a while you will know what to do. Open a Charles Schwab or TD ameritrade account and open an IRA. put your first $6k in there. You can trade within the IRA tax free. see how you do. repeat next year with another $6k and so on until you retire. If you have more money to spend, open a regular brokerage account and find a good strategy and commit. now gtfo
