These cycles happen. People see fotm shitcoins mooning, sell their real coins for the shitcoins thinking "ill just make a quick 2x and get out", get dumped on by the devs/early adopters (who move their gains into BTC/ETH/LINK) and then eventually sell their shitcoins for an 80% loss and move it back into BTC/ETH/LINK.
