I get so bored so easy that I work non stop all the time and I have basically brute forced my way into some really nice positions, through undergrad, and grad school, and all the way up the company ladder cause I just work non stop all day since I have no friends or hobbies to do when I go home.

Now people reference me to other people claiming I am so smart and talented, and I don't live up to the hype. I just work like a freak, but I am not intelligent at all, and all these other nerds with phds do the work I do in 10 hours when it takes me 14-16 a day to keep up.

I feel the exact same way. I cannot keep up with this high level work for very much longer, I just want to accumulate wealth for a few years and then go to something easier.

I can do the work, but I just don't fit in because I am too unsophisticated for my coworkers or something I guess.

Good luck, just don't beat yourself up if you lose the job or decide to quit. High salary always seems nice to the people who don't have to do the work. They imagine we just get the money for free or something.

Damn almost this entire post describes my life so well, except that I do have a PhD (which was pretty effortless brain-wise at least, just time-consuming primarily). My company is very competitive though and I think some of my co-workers are going to try and dethrone me; apparently I got hired into a position that others (who are clearly smarter than me) had to climb the ladder for years to get. Just a long road of parents and mentors pushing me to max effort and me going along with it because what else am I going to do.

Well... This is not the case with me.
People aren't necessarily coming to get me, I just don't fit in well with the group. Like they are on another level.

If people are coming to get you then you need to fuck them up. It is always easier to fight downhill. It is their fault if they're trying to aggressive take your job, and as sad as it is. You don't HAVE to be intelligent to keep a job, just have to be clever.
Most important thing to do is make sure you have information that is essential and only you have it.

For example at my old job there was a guy who was a complete jackass, but we couldn't can him because he was the only one who knew how to run our testing equipment which he designed and created which was a bottleneck process for like 30% of the companies revenue.
So that was tens of millions in this guys hands alone.

As soon as I learned how the test equipment worked that guy was canned and I had to teach EVERYONE how to use it so they never had that problem again.

Anyways, you can setup insurance like that easily to stop the dogs at your back. Don't go quietly is my advice. I was only saying that the job wore me out, but fuck people who try to stab others in the back just to move up the company ladder, statistically you will always make more changing companies. People like that are just obsessed with the rat race and can't see out of their 2d world.
