Things that need to happen before XSN can do anything of value:

1. Raiden team has to finish their product, and port it to Windows (~1 year)
2. XSN has to integrate Raiden on their wallet (~6 months)

End of 2021 is the soonest you can expect a product worth using. XSN team can say what they want, but their development history gives you an idea how good they're at keeping deadlines.

There do happen to be many eyes on L2. It has rather bullish prospects, I'd say. Especially if all the new hot ICOs are basically trying to mimic XSN and hope no one finds out XSN exists
