Essentially, profit if the stock price doesn't move outside SMA(10) +/- 25% or something.

Look at historical data for the stock and pick a window big enough that > 99% of weeks you'll gain ~3-10% and <1% you'll lose.

Then long puts and calls with significant windows that probability to lose 100% is <<<<1%.

Look at anxiety and fear rates in society nowadays.

Helicopter parenting and safety first has really taken a toll. I'd say large part driven by dishonest media.

It's well known but if there was a big river of death causes, the little droplets that splash up is what the media focuses on. So we have everyone insanely afraid of cops shooting them or coronavirus while not afraid of the bag of chips or soda they are chugging.

There is no statistical credibility to anything we are scared of as a society or what the media scares us with. It's just pure lizard brain shit.

Need new laws that force every news article and news bit that mentions a death to give what % of people died this month from said cause they are talking about.

The anon kinda has a point. Its not exactly deflation though. There is a problem there being too many dollars in the world compared to how many actually flow, and even more so how little dollar pass around the 99%. The rich have gotten too rich. Its the real problem. Globally not much of an issue but individually in every country the tich have sucked up everything. Printing slows down the affects I guess is how they see it but seems like France revolution is inevitable. Too many poor, literally being in the 99.9% is meaningless now. .00000001% have 99.99999999999% now it’s fucking crazy. They literally need to write their people checks to get out of it ironically. The biggest flaw just simply thinking that shut down is the safest choice.

It's similar to the "sell everything go 100% cash" types that think that increases their safety. Then the market goes up 25% and they sit watching it all in cash still.

Shutting down the economy was objectively the wrong move now with hindsight. I'm very worried about developing nations and the long-term economic effects of this. India for instance. With their levels of poverty the costs of lockdown will have an incredible body count on it's own.

Living paycheck to paycheck was the old way of life, now it’s disaster to disaster. Just this year has had normal people packing their bug-out bags over a pandemic, then race war and now the country being on fire. People can’t afford education for their kids, cannot afford their health care when they get sick and now they can’t even get proper information on if they risk their family’s lives by leaving their houses, because the facts around the pandemic have been utterly politicized.

Because you know better than millions of years of evolution. Humans have a finely tuned risk aversion that has optimized their gains forever, everyone is aware that once in a while some moron with defective risk assessment abilities win the lotto and brag that everyone else is a stupid coward, but millions of years of evolution have taught functioning brains to ignore them for the morons they are, and even despise them as parasites for the undue risk they take, knowing these morons will be first in line for handouts when their outside risk taking doesn’t pay off.
Whenever you think you are smarter than people at large, it’s because you are still ignorant of the facts that would explain how comes you’re actually the stupid one.

Does it actually matter what currency you invest in a company that operates in a given market? i.e. whether you invest in Alibaba in USD (BABA) or HKD (9988) shouldn't matter, right? Else there would be an arbitrage opportunity, where you could buy equivalent shares cheaper in the US market than in China. Presumably, if the dollar loses in value, the share price of BABA would increase by the same amount.

An option is a contract, so it would still have to be fulfilled. I'm sure your broker or some regulatory agency would post a bulletin about it. A quick google search came up with this:
Q: What happens with my options contracts when a company is delisted from an options exchange?
Trading in existing series would continue until they go “off the board”. If trading in the underlying stock is suspended by its primary market for an extraordinary reason before the expiration of outstanding options, the options exchange will specify a procedure for the orderly liquidation of option open interest in a special bulletin.
I personally don't have any experience with holding an option that has the potential of being delisted, so maybe another anon can chime in.

If I'm understanding that correctly, that means there's 10 calls for every 2 puts. That's a bullish sign, not bearish? Also, your chart clearly shows that the ratio fell to around 0.2 before the 31st, which is right before the recent dip. If the ratio is still the same as it was right before the dip, doesn't that mean we can't infer any change at all from this chart? If I'm just a complete retard and not getting it at all feel free to ignore me.

I've had a fairly wide strangle on them for a long time, my short put strike is 15 and I received a 5$ credit originally. Presumably if they go to zero I'd lose 1k due to that, but with a delisting the stock still exists from what I understand, just traded OTC which ruins the liquidity. Am I right so far?
I'm going to try and close it Monday at open even if it results in a scratch or loss (I'm up 2.26 so far). Not sure how it'll go though.

I'm a complete retard as well. I'm also a buy and hold investor, not a trader. I learn a lot about options from you guys, even though I will never use them. I just went into Schwab to check it out and looked at investopedia. Yeah, seems like people are really bullish on SQQQ, .2 is extremely bullish, while TQQQ is mildly bearish (0.8 call/put ratio - 0.7 is considered neutral because they are usually more calls than puts).

However, Too Bullish, as we saw with this recent dip, can be bad and mean investoers are too euphoric and we are due for a pullback.

At the end of the day, I have no idea, I'm still learning as well. The VIX dropped on Friday to pre-dip levels, and it looks like the market is slowly recovering to me, but we will see.

I would love any small measure of security, thanks. Prison doesn’t offer it, obviously. Neither does anything else. Your average Joe is sitting with his family on a plank, floating along a stream that is turning into rapids that are turning into a waterfall. Just beside him they see you, only half afloat on an even shittier plank, mocking them. “you want security, haha, go to prison! I’m taking risks, because I love freed- blub blub” and they see you submerged but can take no solace in it not being them, because it will be, soon.

Good call, it's completely obvious right now that you should be shorting/buying puts on NKLA and because its that obvious, you should avoid doing so. Us retail investors are a drop in the ocean compared to the market makers. Next week I predict NKLA will go up in price to completely fuck over shorters and put buyers. After they've made enough money, it'll continue dumping into oblivion. 5 minutes before close on Friday I saw someone purchase over $700,000 in 9/18 34 calls. TA is mostly people guessing and being smug when they are right and silent when they are not.

Bank algos do not draw three lines and pretend that's stock sharia from now on that they have to follow. Banks have countless plans and modifiers on a scale beyond our imagination.
If anyone would find a successful algo they would implement it, make huge amounts of money in very short time and subsequently be priced in by other algos that include this algo in their own programs.

I basically just ignore it and make money.

Poor is relative. Dont compare poor of today to the poor of yesterday. By this logic no one could ever complain about literally anything ever because we have it “better”. There will always be poor in society as we know it, no matter the advancements. Maybe you should think more in terms of “disparity” which I suppose would be more accurate. The fact is that money and power has never been so centralized and continues to get more centralized.
