If you know how monero works then you already know that transactions can’t be directly traced. You can build up meta data leakages from surveillance but that’s about all you can do, and this still wouldn’t be enough to build any sort of case. Direct surveillance is far more realistic, or wrench attacks to be honest.
The only way to “break” monero is quantum computing but we are a long ways off from that.

I get being skeptical, but you fundamentally don't understand how Monero works if you think it can be simply and directly traced like Bitcoin. It's way more complicated than that. Check out "Breaking Monero" on youtube if you want a breakdown of the more complicated types of attacks. As I said earlier, the only way of possibly connecting Monero transactions is building up metadata leakages over time, but this still doesn't really work if the person that's being targeted takes simple precautions (uses their own node, uses a private wallet).
