In March during the first dip the theory was people had to sell what they could [PMs] to raise liquidity, not what they wanted. Thus you saw PMs go down with everything but then bounced strong when cooler heads prevailed and cash started flowing in.

On a more day-to-day aspect my guess is (((they))) aren’t yet ready to give up the pricing control over PMs meaning you’ve got an external force overriding the natural order of the market, at least for now.

Whether it’s the white hats or black hats is up to you but the point remains as long as those with the power to “adjust” markets exist and exercise their power to do so, pricing will be murky at best if not down right opaque.

Governments will only do so if the risk of nationalizing the asset is less than the risk of not nationalizing the asset. Which is to say if the government with the biggest dick would frown upon a less well endowed government nationalizing an asset, the asset probably won’t be nationalized.

For example Mexico would be hard pressed to nationalize a silver mine if the US made it clear there would be consequences from doing so. Now whether or not the US would care is another story but while a sovereign nation may seem to have many options open to them [nationalization] the reality of what they actually can do is greatly constrained.

The PM bull case is made on deeper macro memes. Right now you can say there is an inverse relationship with the US Dollar strength and metals. DXY on the chart, but trade-weighted USD also works. Basically it comes down to MONETARY inflation (not cost-push, higher VAT, different inflation).

The smart brain econs think that the dollar will be stronger because mathematically QE by the Fed indicates and leads to strong deflationary pressures and under the current regulations they can't actually print money. Good for dollar and US bonds, bad for everything else.

The thing is, The Fed is out of options for causing monetary inflation under the current system. They hit the zero-lower-bound. They are pretty much the bitch of commercial banks, who can and do tighten lending standards to deter lending growth, which is what actually expands the money supply.

This is bearish for everything UNLESS they go with more QE which is only guaranteed bullish for bonds and the dollar, probably equities for a week or so.

QE, in particular OMO, is when the Fed instructs Primary Dealer jews to buy treasuries on their behalf. These Primary Dealers (pretty much national commercial banks) buy treasuries, first with their own cash, then the fed flips them reserve balances for the treasuries. So initially there is a DECREASE in the money supply, as the banks use their own capital to buy these bonds. There is incentive to play along with OMO because Fed reserve balances earn like 0.01% interest, where as cash earns nothing.

The reserves also let the banking jews make more loans, which has been their profit model for decades. This is the logic behind QE. It allows more money to be created by fractional reserve banking, which is a thing even in times without QE. Basically ALL money is created out of thin air by fractional reserve banking. Commercial banks print money every time they create a loan. QE just tries to get them to do more loans.

good question. your statement is right, bond yields decrease as the price (remember, price and value are very very different. you had value instead of price) of aftermarket debts increase.

just as in any bubble, there is a point at which selling begets more selling, and a panic can happen. So the demand of the bonds would drop, and consequentially the yields of the bonds would rise.

well, as yields rise, stock prices fall. (i can go into more detail if needed)

if stocks fall, then normies panic and stop buying shit, banks stop lending, and the economy stops (see 2008).

there's one thing that can stop this domino effect from happening, and that is not letting yields rise (same as saying, not letting demand for bonds drop).
