I just got a ledger x and connected it up to my metamask. I have transferred my main holdings into it and so far so good.

Should I keep anything on my metamask account or should I use it purely as a way to access my ledger account with ease? By anything, I mean things like gas money, or should I just keep it all on ledger?

You just defeated the purpose of a hardware wallet. Why did you do this to yourself? Keep separate wallets, don't turn your offline wallet into an online one for the sake of convenience.

So I am still getting to grips with all of this...

I will be buying some eth through fiat over the course of the next few weeks in a bid to DCA this current dip. Should I buy the eth from my Ledger Live and then once the eth is on my ledger, go to Uniswap and exchange my eth to the token of choice?

Meaning Uniswap and my Ledger would be connected...is this okay?

you sound like you never used your ledger with metamask. you still have to connect the ledger, enter the pin, open the ethereum app and physically press accept. So it makes no difference if you use ledger live or metamask.

as far as I know mobile is relatively low and doesnt work as well, I never used it, just dont make sure to fix it by downloading shady add ons or something

That's not how it works. You could give a pajeet hacker free-reign of your computer with the Ledger connected and they still couldn't do anything to get funds off the ledger. Everything important is done on the ledger before it is sent to the blockchain through Metamask. As long as you actually review the tx before you accept, you are golden.
