ATTENTION ATTENTION ATTENTION ATTENTION

The COMEX has DOUBLED the number of approved Refiners from ~70 to ~130**INCLUDING ~20 CHINESE REFINERS!!!!11**https://youtu.be/_kiCqOL-tqU

This is unprecedented!!
Everyone knows Chinese gold / silver is untrustworthy, full of tungsten & lead!!
NOBODY trusts Chinese metals!! Are you kidding me COMEX??

Imagine an institution buying 10 contracts, standing for physical delivery, and they are given 1,000oz of CHINESE gold!!
LMAO
There is going to be hell to pay - they are not going to accept it (who the hell would accept it without assaying the hell out of every single bar??)
Just imagine the absolute shitstorm when even ONE buyer reports that their COMEX gold was not in fact .999 bullion

Problem is those people in the COMEX shoe industry bought thousands and thousands of shoes at a cheap promised price. Now they have no shoes and they get their useless crap sandals back that they used to buy superior footwear, shoes. Now the exchange power of their sandals is less and the cost of shoes are higher and there are millions of people who now all the sudden want get thousands and thousands of shoes from other markets causing a severe shortage of shoes, making their value skyrocket.

COMEX failing is a big deal.

It is only in recent human history that platinum hasn't been an absolute pain in the ass to refine and separate from its constituent ores. It has had far less experience as gold and silver for the purposes. Because of that it isn't considered a safe haven asset as much as gold is which means its price can be tracked to the underlying economy because of its industrial uses.
I do trade it a little bit though. Same with uranium although there is no way I am ever going to hold that.

If I wanna buy silver coins, do I just pick the cheapest here https://eu.compare.pm/silver ? What even is the difference between them? Do they only have silver value or also 'coin value' i.e. do they have more value because of how they look, like fdc etc, or is it purely about the value of the coin in grams of silver?

Also, silver coins are in my country without tax, but I could also buy a silver bar 2nd hand online. Is that worth it or risky?

So, the gold to silver ratio is the price of silver compared to gold. When we were on the gold standerd, the price between the two has been between 15:1 or 4:1. The historic average was 80:1. This is a time to buy silver since we are seeing the COMEX do absolutely idiotic stuff that is the red flag that it is on it's last leg (Check OP's Vids). The thinks you should be after is junk silver since you can get it really close to spot. Asahi (weeb) rounds since they are around $3 over spot which is ridiculously good in this short supply market where eagles are around $8 of premium. Never go for buckshot silver since that is how they scam new players in the silver market. Mining stocks are only good if you spent a lot of time in the silver market and research. Mining stocks are completely diffrent from a regular stock market or precious metal index so you need to change your mind to it. I do not recommend newbies to hop into it unless you have a lot of silver in the bank or want to transfer your money in the stock market into it.

I think you might be right.
I think the sell-off will continue & we will see big red days for the whole market ahead; this will greatly increase the demand for the dollar (as people will want dollars instead of their stocks) - the European central bank also just announced they're going to be trying to drive down the Euro (which will further boost the dollar) There are currently HUGE short positions on the dollar, which means that the squeeze is going to be particularly juicy
The dollar is currently bouncing from 2 year low and Euro is bouncing from 1.20

Japan / the Korean Peninsula is about to be hammered by a serious typhoon (bullish)
It's going to be very interesting to see how foreign markets act without the US open on Monday..
I think we'll still see the 6:00-7:00pm & 12:00am-1:00am BIS manipulations..

I just don't know if we'll realistically see silver much below $25. I think if the sell-off does continue, it might get panic sold-off below $25 and then rebound sharply.

The price can't be allowed to be below $25 or far too many contracts would be taken with intention of standing for physical delivery..
but then again, as we see >>22277929
it's very unlikely a force majeure is going to happen this month.. (which is one of the major bullish drivers)

However, after Congress votes the new stimulus the week of the 14th & the Fed meets the 15th/16th and 'officially' enacts average inflation targeting measures, it seems very likely for PM to take off again

This week might be very red though.. we'll see.

No, that is not how the ratio plays out. It is historically silver that catches up to gold in the ratio then it falls back. Having 1/10th or 1oz (if you are rich) is fine to do, but invest more heavily in silver since more potential profit.
Silver buckshot is just some buckshot, but they are all silver to the core. It is not worth talking about, but many newcomers get scammed into buying it since no one wants to buy it.

Alright. I did an oopsie. I use a diluted bleach solution to wipe down Amazon packages as a reasonable measure to try not to get the rona. I also got a package with silver at the same time as Amazon. So I accidentally cross contaminated the table and hands and got some bleach on the silver. A bath in hot water and baking soda actually made the tarnish turn from brown to black. So I discovered that regular toothpaste and a toothbrush can work if you scrub it pretty well for a few minutes. Pic related are the bleach spots after baking soda bath making them worse.

Nothing wrong with taking profits and nothing wrong with swing trading. It’s clear we have severe volatility and I’m not convinced there won’t be another sell off. You don’t have to be first to a trade to make money off of it. Sometimes it’s wise to wait until there’s an indication that liftoff is happening. It’s not going to moon in a single day.

Hey /pmg/. New investor here, barely starting. I've been reading and doing some research and decided I want to invest in gold or silver as my first investment. I would probably be ready to pump a couple thousand into this. Silver is very enticing due to its low price (as opposed to gold).

But lo! The country I am from taxes silver! I want to go to Estonia to buy silver, or preferrably order from a country like Estonia that has no tax on silver. Does any Europoor here have any experience in this? Which bullion dealer is trustworthy/cheap? And which coins are good (and why)?

force majeure isnt even a factor in the price of gold right now.

We wont see a total stonk collapse, just the parts what were inflated, people who are losing there are not the people in miners/PM etfs.

gold will possibly keep testing 1900, silver 26, but both have really strong support and will be bought near or below that right back up.

At this point all it takes is a small increase in demand for physical in either, and that can come from a lot of places. Lots of people are going to be moving their money out of the falling sectors in stocks into PMs and undervalued sectors.

Smart money already knows USD or any FIAT is not the place to be holding your money right now.

Two of the main ones for yuros are in the OP; S2G and European Mint are both your Estonian non-VAT sellers. There are others but the ones the OP lists are reliable and between them are usually closest to spot.
As for what to buy, the simplest advice is just get whatever semi-known coin is closest to spot - if you're buying for metal, only go for metal. Coins like >>22280811 seem nice since they carry a higher premium for collectors; but in practicality you need to know what you're doing to make the most from them and they have lower liquidity. Your common coins are basically onces from any mint in the Anglosphere (ASE, Maples, Britannias, Krugies, Philharms and Roo/Koala/Crocs/Kooks). The only exception to this rule is if you're specifically a bong - in which case, it's often worth more to spend a tad bit more for specifically Britannias, since you do not pay any tax on them once you sell (since they're legal tender)
Hope that answers your questions.

Speculation about force majeure absolutely is / was a factor, due to silver (and also platinum / palladium) - the fact that they now have double the sources (especially suddenly now Chinese precious metals) makes force majeure in the short term *extremely* unlikely (removing a bullish factor)

I think they will too, as we saw the Ohio police & fire pension just do - but I think it will take time for them to do so (a good bit of time to run red)

In the short run (until probably Fed meeting) I don't see it breaking the current bounds = crab

Thank you for the detailed answer! That answers most of my questions. I'm not from the UK but thank you for making that specification anyways. Would you recommend newer coins over older ones? You might be able to make the argument that people are speculating on force majeure, but I dont think you can back it up with enough evidence to support it being a major driver.

Regardless, I maintain the position that comex default is 100% not needed to moon metals, it certainly could happen, but I doubt it, there is endless FIAT for them to give out instead of metal.

There are much more significant, and numerous factors, like growing unrest, distrust in governments in general and fiat in particular. Your average house wife is very much noticing her grocery bill going up, along side quality being lowered, and packaging being edited to reduce quantity while trying not to appear as such.

Crabbing is for sure one of the likely outcomes, I cant tell what will happen either. I feel like it will crab, or if it moves, it will move a lot. This coming week in stonks will give a lot of sense of direction I think, as will the next fed meeting and european announcements.

New vs Older doesn't really matter; you can strike it lucky with some old coins if they're collectable (and thus get a higher premium), but at the same time when you buy newer coins, you usually get a full set of the same year (which over time can also gain a premium for collectors). Either/Or is fine, just get as close to spot as you can.
As for travel, if you're up for it I guess you can do collections in person, in which case you can calculate how much fuel it's going to run you (there+back) and any other extra expenses - most people just go through a logistics service for postage (they'll charge slightly more upfront since it's handling precious materials and you'll pay VAT on the postage itself, but the metal you're paying for will stay completely VAT free). Usually just paying for postage is the simpler option (especially with how it can look on the surface if you're running thousands worth of PM across international borders), just make sure to make one large order in that case so you're not continually paying for postage on small orders.

Just curious, what is the highest probability scenario where metals gain significant value? I see the arguments for unrest, failing government, stagflation, and hyperinflation, but I have a hard time giving any of those enough credibility.

Its seems the more likely case is just secular stagnation, in which case we'd want cash + bonds until monetary policy is rewritten.

The 3rd case is inflation proceeds as planned, economy and GDP recover miraculously due to current policies, so equities +++.

The scenario we have currently been in for 50+ years... any scenario where FIAT is currency results in PM's, at the very minimum, preserving purchasing power, if not vastly increasing it if bought during their undervalued stage (which we are still in).

I know its worthless but its fun to collect. Maybe one day when silver hits $1000 and gold hits $100,000 copper will hit $10

I do like some of these descriptions hes put next to some of my favorites like Dolly Varden.

I will say though I can understand why Bayhorse is currently lower down on the list, its due to it being too small. The company is hyper streamlined and cost effective because their margins are tight, and their style of underground mining focuses on only the best of the best ore to work.

>That theory will lead to the idea that sprott's ranking page is more for collecting potential investors for their products than to provide good investing advice

I do not have a good opinion of Sprott at all in some aspects. I have a lot of shares of PHYS because there was a hostile takeover of the Central Gold Trust. While I feel that Sprott is not going to literally steal money, their fees are higher than what the Central Gold Trust were. Sprott was even willing to pay me money to tender my shares into their offer.

As for Rick Rule, he may be a good guy but he just looks like a crook, which is a really bad thing in the mining industry because there are so many crooks. What do the ratings mean? Is a 1 rating bad and a 10 rating good? It's odd that Rule rates PHYS as a 4. Is he talking about expected returns? Potential returns? He's evidently not talking about quality because PHYS is about as safe as things get short of physical possession or gold allocated in your own name.

I have to say, there is nothing more awesome than hopping on /biz/ after a period of inactivity and seeing the first reply being a snapshot of something I contributed. I'm glad some people found value in it. Just proves how much we as contributors can help effect change if we simply share. Made my day anon.

COMEX is more like the guy that sells the leather for the shoes, if they go belly up then the shoe companies follow suit soon or they go to international leather dealers who charge a shitload driving prices up

Looking to buy my first ounce of gold, and was wondering if anyone uses credit cards with high cash back and rewards to recoup some if not most of the premium. My card is 1%, so I'll get $20 back from 1oz. Any one do this and know how to optimize the system?
