need a new vehicle /biz/ my shitbox just died and I'm done with it

>make 50k
>have 300k NW
>want a 30k car, figure may as well splurge and just get the few extra options if I'm going to drop 20k
>get sick to my stomach thinking about spending this much money
>should just get a base model or a used corolla for like 15k instead and be happy with it

I have a car in mind which its either that or just a used corolla

what do I do?

Whatever you do, don't get a new car. If you decide to splurge 30k then get it used. People that buy new cars are either retarded or ultra-rich and you're neither of those.

depends on your use.
If it's only for getting from point A to point B, then fuck it, get a Toyota Corolla. Those fuckers NEVER break down. I used to have one for 12 years and it never broke down once.

Now, if you want some more fun... there's a lot of factors you gotta keep in mind...

used version is 4k less than new, and the car/color/features I want is like impossible to find used

I was thinking about getting a used Lexus CT200h soon, to replace a crapped out 98 Civic. It ticks most of my boxes:

>compact hatch
>hybrid = low fuel cost
>luxury experience (entry-level luxury, but still)
>sporty handling but still a smooth ride
>prius drivetrain on a corolla platform = never breaks, when it does it costs pennies to fix

Only downside is extremely anemic engine, but I'm in stop-start <30mph traffic 98% of the time that I drive, and even on the highway I'm a grandma. Gonna test drive one this weekend. They're ~$10-15k depending on miles.

Used corolla <10k.
If you cant afford the car you want without getting sick to the stomach, you'll regret it few weeks in or with the first scratch. Spending 10% of your net worth on a fucking car is not smart unless you're some kind of enthusiast and the car is your hobby or defines your status or anything.
If you wanna get from A to B, anything other than a used corolla is basically a waste of money.

Get a 16-20 Honda Civic that is top end (Si or Touring). Comes with ALL the bells and whistles including android auto, auto adjusting cruise control and lane keep. Reliable and holds value. And won't be more than 20K.

Don't get a corolla shit box you will hate your life.

You're not seriously considering paying in cash, right OP?

Enterprise rentacar has the best deals.
All of their cars are low mileage and well maintained. They don't care about turning a big profit, because they already made their money on rentals. They're just clearing their inventory.
Fuck Craigslist and dealerships. Every time I see a good deal on a car, I take it to a mechanic for inspection and there's always something god awful under the hood.

I'm not buying a 20 year old beater, faggot. I'm getting something low mileage that will last me 10-15 years.
