Bitcoin isn’t environmentally friendly, it’s slow as fuck, can’t scale at the current time and all the hash power is based in dubious countries.

>Isn't environmentally friendly
This is disingenuous, 75% of mining runs on renewables. that's higher than any other industry as far as I know. In fact, I would go as far as to say PoW is a fantastic economic tool to push growth in renewable energy development.

I am just telling you that western financial institutions will not be inclined to use such a product when it does not look good in the public eye. I do like how nobody who replied tried to address any of other far more glaring issues with king shitcoin.

implying anyone who uses bitcoin gives a shit what any institutions think. we don't have a single world government with totalitarian and complete control of the entire planet...yet

My bad, the latest update is 73%.

As far as your other points go, speed, mining locations, scaling, etc, doesn't matter. Bitcoin is a narrative, and there are people that will always want Bitcoin because of that. People who buy won't sell for a lower price and miners won't operate at a loss, so BTC is here to last. Note that I'm not saying XRP isn't the standard (for banking), just that BTC isn't a complete shitcoin.

Institutions will market it as good or bad as they feel like it.
Headline:
>''Bitcoin mining spurs growth in renewable energy sector''
>''VC Capital flocks to green energy as Bitcoin hash power soars''
Headline:
>''Bitcoin uses more power than these 3 banana republics combined, and thats bad.
Prove me wrong. You can't. Now take a seat.

But you do realize how how silly it is to base a currency off POW? You are essentially pinning the price of the asset to the physical energy spent solving an abstraction. It is wasted energy. This energy requires human labor to produce. It is like a Pharaoh building another pyramid when he could be using his human labor pool to build roads and canals and other city improvements.

renewable resources are a meme. They all have to have huge subsidies and ban traditional fuel sources to be competitive.

Oh yes it definitely is silly. But rationality doesn't matter.

>> No.22207027

you are all retarded if you genuinely believe that global finance would ever let btc, or any other money, subvert their hegemony. they will instigate a world war to maintain their power, if needed.

>> No.22207092

>>22205875
Well, I guess you will be fine with BTC being dethroned when institutional money really gets rolling. Not saying it will be XRP, but it certainly wont be BTC either. You are naive if you actually think we are heading to some sort of bank-less society where everybody is their own bank. The reality is the majority of people on this planet are too stupid or lazy for that to work.
>>22206291
And you think that these primarily western institutions are going to prop up a coin basically owned by China/North Korea/Iran why?

You're being short-sighted. Renewables are the future, the subsidies are there to help push in that direction. Just like XRP is pushing in the direction of the elimination of traditional banking and fiat currency. XRP is the bridge between the old financial system and the decentralized future, in which BTC has a part to play.

I think mcap is a meme, so I don't think it will stay #1 in terms of that. I envision it as the crypto index fund, essentially. A safe bet that is sure to grow in the long term.
