if you study history seriously you will find that this has regularly happened to the world's leading empire every single time and the collapse ends up looking more or less the same

the good news is that doomsayers are mostly wrong, collapse will leave a good 70%+ almost entirely unaffected save for a moderate lifestyle hit.

30% of the population going into poverty or dying off is what imperial collapse looks like, its not like everyone is suddenly wandering a wasteland. the bottom 30% these days probably doesn't include anyone with internet access, a decent computer, and enough food and safety to spend time shitposting.
