Hey bro. Thanks for the input.

I would like the opinions of someone experienced in this field.

How much of a dip do you buy?
If it's lost over ~20% do you assess the previous 5 days and then proceed to buy it?
Do you wait the first hour or so in the during trade open to make sure you're buying in as low as possible before the upswing?

My strategy so far is to just assess it's average price. Say its been trading $15 for the past 3 weeks, but then dipped to $10 in 1 day- I would consider this a buy. Thoughts? Opinions?

Any feedback would be appreciated from someone with this strategy experience - thank you in advance.

The problem I find with dip buying is not that it doesn't work. It's that the companies whose dips you want to buy tend to all fall at the same time usually with the broader market. So you go long periods of time with no good trades around. Then all at once every stock is a great buy and you don't have enough capital to buy them all.

There are some embarrassments as well if you look through. A lot of the UVXY trades were way too early.

> If it's lost over ~20% do you assess the previous 5 days and then proceed to buy it?
depends on the company, but generally yes as long as no major bad news or bad news spanning a couple weeks

> Do you wait the first hour or so in the during trade open to make sure you're buying in as low as possible before the upswing?
yes this is generally my favorite time, the masses find out and either big drops or rises happen in the earliest hours

> My strategy so far is to just assess it's average price. Say its been trading $15 for the past 3 weeks, but then dipped to $10 in 1 day- I would consider this a buy. Thoughts? Opinions?

JASO posts Q4 earnings per ADS of $0.03, beating the Capital IQ consensus of a $0.06 operating loss. Sales rose 23% from Q3, well above consensus expectations, on higher cell and module shipments. Margins widened, aided by a stable pricing environment and cost improvements. We believe a return to profitability and cash flow improvement are being driven by JASO's significant presence in Japan, an area that we believe commands higher selling prices. We note that more than 80% of JASO's Q4 shipments came from the Asia Pacific region, and think capacity expansion plans are prudent.

Stop order means you set a price lower than where it currently is. If the price hits that level, you sell and prevent further losses.

A limit order means you won't accept anything lower/higher than a particular level, so you could put a sell limit order in higher than the current price and when the stock hits that level you will sell. Or you could put in a buy limit, which is essentially saying you won't buy it at over some price.

you have to juggle your money wisely if you don't have a margin account. I usually trade a couple of times a week but stop when I have $0 in settled funds.

You can still trade with your unsettled funds (immediately available after you sell) but only if you plan to hold onto whatever stock you bought with it until your funds settle, i.e. you can't day-trade or short term trade the stock because if it loses money you technically had a "free ride" and you're in violation of the law.

I only use unsettled funds when I am rolling some capital into one of my long stocks.

If you're new to this you should read up on the FAQs on whichever online broker you use so you don't get in a jam later on.
