So what is the Fed's endgame going to be? They printed money in 2008 and all big money did was dump it into equities while the actual economy basically stayed in the gutter because there was nothing to fuel actual growth.
Now its 2020 and even normies are taking printed money and dumping it into equities. And its a sword of damocles. If they try to pop the stock market bubble they reinflated all that cash would wash over the US like a flood of real inflation.

Yea but when I was first getting into stocks pretty much every piece of advice I read was like
>Don't get into anything but save mutual funds! Only x% of professionals beat the market and it's literally their jobs! You can't hope to outperform literal professionals so stick with braindead safety!

I took this advice to heart and lost out on so many gains during this bullrun. I only changed direction about halfway in and realized that I was scared over nothing. Even if shit crashes, that's literally what stop losses are for and you can still get out with profit as long as you ride the fucking wave. These hedge fund managers skew the perspective of everyone, but I guess that's a good thing because most people are too scared to bother playing with stocks once they read """"advice""""" from """"analysts"""" and that makes it easier for me.

Dude, we’re in uncharted waters. One would think downward volatility is bad, but it could just be the S&P is losing market share or confidence.

What the Fed has been doing in recent months makes the 2008-09 bailout look like a pittance. There aren’t any more tricks for the fed to pull besides increased inflation. We’re also seeing the monopolization of multiple portions of the economy by Amazon.

Tl;dr I think we’re fucked because the market is too hot and the economic downturn isn’t priced in but it might not even matter.

Been trading for about a week now, up 7.3% today. I basically just got really lucky buying GameStop after seeing the short interest. Still holding that one so tomorrow might be a red day for me. SHLL had another good day, TQQQ+FNGU are cheating right now but I'm prepared to pay for this in the future. My one red stock today was LL which I'm way underwater on, thinking about just buying some more shares and trying to lower my average share price to get myself out a little quicker.

Except it's unsustainable and people with actual leverage in the pricing can and will manipulate it to secure gains and trap investors a la the dotcom bubble. Friendly reminder that despite massive tailwinds it took MSFT 16 years to recover from the top, and nearly as much time to recover the middle. I don't think you fully realize that a lot of these big players are totally price insensitive to this top and a heft portion of their holdings are decades old. All of these recent buyers are increasingly sensitive to both volatility amplitude and length since they're going to require liquidity. Not to mention the fact that every time one of these insane mcap companies moves a single percentage point they increase or decrease in value in the orders of tens of billions of dollars. The bigger they are the harder they fall.

You’re basically right but you shouldn’t ascribe too much important to market cap. It’s a fairly meaningless number that just gets tossed around by journalists. So what if price x number of shares = big big number? You couldn’t literally sell them all for that much without crashing it.
