There are only two factors that effect overall quality of life:
>average IQ of the population
>level of individual property rights
Immigration only matters insofar as restricting low iq groups that will become a permanent costly underclass. Made in america requirements have marginal costs but overall have very little effect.

When you're a nationalist the goal shifts from having the strongest economy possible to an economy that is best for the members of your society. Thats when immigration restriction and tariffs are useful
