Can I buy crypto via an exchange in the US and then move to, say, Portugal and cash out there to avoid taxes?

Anyone with any experience with this?

There is nothing you can do if you bought them in the US. If you move to puerto rico you have to pay taxes on ehatever you had before you moved there. If you move to a foreign country as a US citizen, the US will still demand taxes from you. If you give up your citizenship they will still make you pay an exit tax.

I've been researching places for over a year. I've found the 2 best places imaginable. One of them is if I REALLY make it (10MM+). The other is (3MM+).

This is the reality for any US anon. Start your plan NOW. You've already run out of time for PR in 2020 because theres not 6 months left in the year, but 2021 PR is still an option. Plan on moving to PR as soon as you can in 2021. All gains you make AFTER arriving in PR are tax free, provided that you stay there 6 months out of the year and are a resident (you need to severe all ties to previous state). You also will pay on all gains you made PRIOR to arriving in PR. personally, this is my plan as it is the ONLY option as a burger to avoid maximum tax. If you cannot or do not want to go to PR, there are more risky options. You can cut your taxes in half by buying into Conservation Easement funds. Your CPA and the IRS will scream at you not to do this, and it is higher risk - but that doesnt change the fact that it works. If you buy into a CE, you expect an audit and a 7 year time horizon where you have the IRS looming over your shoulder - but it WORKS. There are rumors of upcoming legislation making CEs more IRS friendly, but again, it is high risk. I know this field intimately and can tell you this is how the rich avoid taxes. Trump and Ted Turner used CEs to avoid taxes and rich people use them ALL THE TIME. Considering the risk you have already taken in crypto, CEs are nothing - but it terrifies the average person and good boi CPAs.

That being said, NOTHING will provide you the tax benefit that moving to PR has. If anyone is really interested in learning more about CEs I can provide additional information. I should note that you need to be earning in excess of 300k for CEs to start to make sense for you.

In Europe people pay even MORE in taxes, and yet these countries are consistently ranked as being "happier". Read up on this, it's fascinating. In the US there is an incredible divide between the rich and the poor, the wealth gap.

The only thing that creates wealth? Wealth. Look at the dollar over the years in terms of it's devaluing nature. Look at the inflation that's happening now. The lower classes that are financially unsophisticated continue to not invest and remain in cash as the value of it slowly bleeds out. Meanwhile the rich invest and get richer.

It's not as simple as democrats bad, republicans good. That for the indoctrinated chest beating morons that treat it like sports. There is actually very little difference between them because they're not in charge. We're not living in a democracy, we are living in a plutocracy. Corporations run the world. Corporations make the money. They pay basically no taxes because they can.

You can't have a libertarian society because the govt aren't the bad guys. Everyone is the bad guy. The corporations are bad and the govt. If you take away governmental power, the corporations move in and take the power. You think corporations are your friend? They don't even pretend to be interested in society, they literally live and breathe on making as much money as is possible.

TLDR; it's not black and white

there are other ways to legally reduce tax burden. if you are willing to tie up funds for 10 years you can use trump economic opportunity zones.
these work well if you already have a biz or willing to start one. the 10yr issue isn't as severe as it initially seems if you are paying yourself a salary from the existing biz anyway...

As a US citizen it is not an option unless you renounce your citizenship and as others have already said, you will need to pay your taxes owed on the way out. >> No.21996498

I would also say that some politicians are looking at the PR loophole. AOC wants it closed and wrote a letter about it. The window is closing and there's a chance that 2021 will be the last year you can exercise the option. IF Dems win this year then it is more likely it will close. As I said before, as someone with actual knowledge in this space, if you expect to have more than $1 million this bull run, then make your tax plan NOW. For those interested in CEs - the funds can fill quickly but theres normally a surge of new funds opening in Q4 - so that can be your plan if you take gains this year provided you can find a fund.

>> No.21996555

>>21996498
OK, I'm out. For those interested in CEs, look at a company called Green Rock based in Alabama or Sandy Bay in Florida - those are two of the more reputable sponsors. Some of these funds will actually pay you distributions like a traditional RE Fund. Good luck.

Do you guys buy your crypto on p2p exchanges and deposit them into a non KYC exchange? I'm trying to figure out a decent method for buying either XMR or BTC anonymously to do this. Living in Jew York makes this difficult since every BTC atm I've looked into requires ID verification for legal purposes. I imagine that information is logged and can be used by the IRS for auditing. It's so shitty that even exchanging crypto to crypto is a taxable event. Why is burgerland so cucked god dammit.

>In Europe people pay even MORE in taxes, and yet these countries are consistently ranked as being "happier".
Look at how the taxes are being used and compare it to our side of the world. It's vastly different.
>In the US there is an incredible divide between the rich and the poor, the wealth gap.
I'm fully aware. And to add to this, in the world, there is an even more incredible divide between the rich and the poor, the global wealth gap.
>It's not as simple as democrats bad, republicans good.
I'm on neither side, I hate that there are only ever two options. It turns people tribalistic; basically >That for the indoctrinated chest beating morons that treat it like sports.
>We're not living in a democracy, we are living in a plutocracy. Corporations run the world. Corporations make the money.
Did I say anything that denied that?
>The only thing that creates wealth? Wealth
>You can't have a libertarian society because the govt aren't the bad guys. Everyone is the bad guy.
So we should tax the common people to take their money away from them so they can be wealthier? You're contradicting yourself anon.
>TLDR; it's not black and white
The self importance in those paragraphs is seeping out.
