Waiting for my first bit of ETH to come in from coinbase. Was stupid and bought it when it was at 212 but that has nothing to do with my question and I learned my lesson.

Once it comes in I plan on moving it to bittrex or Polo so I can then sell and trade in alt coins.

Here's my question cause I am not a 100% sure how it works yet, but do I have to sell back any alt coins into bitcoins or ETH first before I can trade in other alts?

Can I even trade in the ETH I have coming or will I have to buy Bitcoin instead?
