Ok how much money do you actually need to make it in North America and be comfortable without constantly stressing, and why?

I simply want to not work and live in a shitty one bed room apt with internet and maybe order food twice a day

Maybe just 2 million after taxes it's 1 million reinvest into a vanguard that pays a solid dividend and live off 30-40k a year and save

Incredibly subjective.
In terms of money, happiness runs out around 70k, after that you have diminishing returns when it comes to money and happiness i.e. making over 70k isn't going to make you "happier".

As far as "comfort", making around 50k and not living in an expensive, congested city is a good path. Living within your means.

Or accumulating at minimum 500k, buying and renting out a property and living off the passive income.

Money is relative. Living within your means and realizing that being successful is what drives happiness (and that money doesn't necessarily equal success) can enable you to live a very rich life.
