How wealthy do I have to be before I can buy a boat like pic related and stay financially afloat? What about a yacht or megayacht?

>> No.21851193

Your boat should be no more than 5% of your net worth.
Figure out how much a the boat costs and work backwards

No, my friend owns it. I help him.
Its a cheap boat. And still its about 10k usd a year to keep it running.

>> No.21852176

Try to avoid small boats with a pilothouse,
unless you want to spend a lot of time out at sea in terrible weather.

Boats generally cost 10% of the purchase price to maintain each year

But remember those running costs stay high while the boat looses its value over time.

For something like that? Low to mid 6 figures with supplimental income coming in.

For a megayacht 120ft+ you’ll need an 8 figure net worth minimum. They’ll cost you 5-11M for 120 footers and will be 300-600K a year in crew and upkeep

Im going to buy a fishing boat and live out my alaskan deadliest catch rab fishing fantasy

I've wanted to charter a yacht for years now. I have no friends except online, and only two, maybe three would be somewhat likely to join me. They live in Mediterraneo countries and I'm a burger so it's quite a logistical burden. They are obviously poorfags since 3rd world yuros so I'd have to bankroll the whole thing and even if it went perfectly they'd probably feel weird about me paying for what probably costs north of 25k. I got lucky enough to land an autism gf so that's one person. She hates one of my three e-frens so that would be interesting how it plays out irl. I'm hoping to get at least 5% returns from steaking soon so I can start doing cool shit like this. If they got autism gf's then it would be less of a sausage fest and my bitch could stay busy playing frenemies with their bitches and hopefully forget her vendetta with the spainard. It is also weird because I'm 10 years older than them. We're would we even go on a trip though. Seems lame if I pick one of their countries but I'd get a free tour guide out of it. Maybe Thailand since it's new to all of us. They could pick up some ladyboys and have a good time outside of whatever it is people do on a boat. I'd really like to see Antarctica but that's way too expensive. I'd need 5% and at least $50 link to make that work.
Owning a boat sounds cool but I'd get more fun out of chartering a couple times per year.
Any stinky boys interested in going in cahoots with me on a trip with me? Assuming four cabins we could do 50:50, agree on itinerary, and each pick half the meals. I enjoy shit like steak, lamb, borgars, and spaghett. Tendies for meme factor will have to happen. Idgaf what you choose as long as its not weird shit like liver and onions or tongues. I'm autistic so I prefer someone who also drinks with each meal so I don't feel lonely as the only sucker who needs booze to loosen my tongue. I'm cool with any ages from 21 up to 50, 60's if one of those weird fitness guys who lift/run bigger than I do.

All solid advice here

You have to be prepared to pay upkeep, slip fees, dry dock fees, etc

Always remember the saying, "A boat is a hole in the water surrounded by wood into which you pour money”

Easier to rent than own. Its like owning a car. The upkeep is a headache and being on the water makes the boat rot faster and you'll be buying a new one in less than 2 years. Or you'll be paying about $2000 a year for maintenance.

Rent or go to a port and poke around. Driving it is a meme as they're much all the same.
