I haven't had a lagavulin in a couple of years. It was the first really peaty scotch I had though so I have really fond memories of it. These days I use my credit card points to get ardberg, just because it's "free".

>> No.21851123

When I get home I'll have a gin and tonic in summer or a martini in winter. Then half a bottle of red while I cook dinner and the remainder with dinner. I finish off dinner with a small slice of cheese and the last of my red. I then have an espresso and a double of VSOP cognac neat. This is unvarying.

>> No.21851148

I have developed a taste for the finer dark rums over the last couple of years. Rum gets a bad rep sometimes but the more expensive bottles can be very complex in flavor.

Could never get into whisky because the peat taste didn't agree with me.

Based. Really fuckin nice whiskey IMO, the flavor changes and evolved radically over several seconds, starts out with strong notes of smoke and shoe leather (really warm, not ethanol-ish, but just warm, which I’m a huge fan of), then you get more of the wood notes, then it finishes off sweeter and more biscuit-y. Havent tried a ton of whisky but god damn Connemara is a long, elegant yet bold symphony
