Self improvement has a hidden poisonous component about it, and it always implicitly tries to "improve" you so you are better adapted, more fit, for the modern post-/industrial societies and their overwhelming social environment, but is that really improvement or just becoming a more fit and acquiescent slave?

Free primitive peoples don't need to "improve themselves", they don't need to learn to regulate their breathing or have 2000 hours in yoguic meditation just to cope with the noise of their neighbours or their overwhelming and stressful life. And it comes naturally to them to develop their skills in life without worrying too much about anything, they don't need to cope with an hypercompetitive cutthroat social environment and force themselves to constantly learn new, boring skills, like programming, to have an edge over the next working drone.

Self-development, without changing the system, will just turn everyone into the perfect slave and drive us into a never-ending spiral of even further enslavement.
