Can anyone explain to me how the hell you can "borrow" money using crypto with Compound? The thing I keep reading is that you are able to 'borrow' against COMP, but how the fuck does anyone borrow crypto?

I've been reading about crypto for years and thinking about investing, but I actually started investing this month (finally).

The last two things that I don't really understand are DeFi and COMP. Can someone explain this shit to me in useful terms for a human? Not just 100% buzzword bullshit like all the articles.
