My friend works at a wealth management firm in San Francisco. I asked him to look over the white paper so I would know if they were being honest about the tokenomics. He told me that this is the most idiotic idea he's ever seen for a stablecoin, that the team clearly has no idea how they will back the currency with real world assets and that this is basically going to become the new Bitconnect once the bubble gets large enough. The biggest cause for concern according to him was their intention to use not only foreign fiat but also alternative assets for stabilization. In particular their use of vehicles like paper gold and securities is going to be very dangerous going forward. Paper commodities have been shown to be fundamentally flawed in the post-COVID world because they are even less reliable than unbacked currency and supported only by manipulative exchanges like COMEX. Securities are worth less than the paper they are printed on as well, just look at how investors have been running from all of the bonds issued by the Treasury this year. Guys like Peter Thiel and Sam Altman might have thought this was a good idea before 2020 hit us, but now it is a total disaster. I will probably ride this wave up a few more pennies because I bought in 2019 but if you are thinking about getting into this coin, just stay away. There will be nothing but losses in your future.

I'll direct all of your attention to the fact that all of the seed investors put their money into this before coronachan wrecked the global economy, thereby making the intended plan for RSR's tokenomics totally nonfunctional. >RSV is a stable cryptocurrency that can be held and spent the way we use US dollars and other stable fiat money. It is a decentralized, asset-backed stablecoin. Reserve believes it can beat fiat money in global stability. The protocol is designed to hold collateral tokens worth 100% of the value of all RSV tokens.
>ASSETS: Government debt, like US treasury bills, can function as an asset that is similar in value to fiat money, with less inflation, due to the small yield. Commodities, like gold and diamonds, are more volatile in the short term, but can be more stable in the long term, and so could make up a part of the backing. If structured and diversified properly, it may make sense to include some equities.
Why on earth would they be using US Treasury bills to back this currency when their yields are at an all time low? They are backing digital fiat with even more worthless paper fiat.

Not even fudding right now can someone explain to me how this makes any sense? Talk about building a house of cards on top of another house of cards. The entire foundation of this coin is flawed if they are backing it with an asset that is yielding the worst it had in decades. People are dumping this shit left and right for gold and bitcoin.

What exactly makes RSR a better call than stacking bullion or BTC?

>"We believe that the most responsible path to this decentralized digital currency is to launch as a centralized fiatcoin, gather the necessary usage data, and use that data to evolve to a fully decentralized model."

Sounds like a good plan to me, and aligned with the silicon valley mindset, which for all its faults, sort of works sometimes. Besides, they don't say they'll use T-Bills. It's mentioned as a possible fiat asset class to back. It could just as well be gold, and probably will be, the way things are going. That's the smart thing to do, given gold's hedge against hyperinflation.

Your FUD in this thread seems to be founded on some major assumptions about user adoption, platform viability, and technical indicator non-sequiturs, which suggests that you either don't know anything about iterative product development, that you are being intentionally bearish on a rather promising technology for some reason or another, or you're just bored and trolling. It's probably some combination of the three.

If you're asking for clarification about what makes RSR a better call than stacking bullion: it's not. It's a different bet in a different space to service different markets. Bullion is a store of value, RSR is a means of effecting transactions. Look up Gresham's Law.
If you're asking for clarification about what makes RSR a better call than stacking BTC: while BTC has first mover advantage and as a store of value seems to suffer significant liquidity issues, not to mention political risk and control by a very few miners who continually stagnate the platform. As a speculative store of value, it will remain useful, but in the DeFi system of the next decade there will be many different ways to effect transactions. BTC is useful as part of a larger crypto portfolio, but I would hardly suggest it be the main component of anyone's crypto portfolio, that's just silly.

Not intentional fud, just prudent commentary since I may have unintentionally given investment advice. I stopped paying attention to the other coins I was looking at when I bought RSR and cleared my memory banks because I believe in the project and I'm holding until EOY. Then I'll reassess and see if the P2P transaction business is as viable as I thought it was when I bought in.

There are a few similar transaction-enabling projects out there, though. Not all of them are P2P, either. Some of them are machine-machine transactions, like RLC, which seems interesting, but it's a totally different use case altogether so I doubt they will compete. LINK is an enabler of those transactions, of a different kind. But the hyper-inflationary use case of RSR is what attracted me the most to it, as well as it having the backing of some VCs and a more or less ready-to-go product. I grew up in silicon valley, a lot of my friends are y combinator nerds, and I saw real quick how cheap the whole VC thing is, and how much the product is usually just hype. There's this whole mindset, which is foundational to basically all crypto, that you have to get people to pay you money before you even start working on the product, which always seemed backwards to me. Being able to claim support from an investor is nice, but it doesn't mean much. It's just a data point, one among many. RSR does seem to be doing good business though, and I'm excited about its potential to really move the needle forward in terms of how we communicate and transact value as a civilization.
