It's simple; people were buying gold in 2011 in anticipation of an imminent dollar collapse. They were right to anticipate that the dollar would fall. But the Fed still had a little ammunition left. Nominal yields on the ten-year were still 5%, so the Fed was able to do Q. E. 1, 2, and, 3, to send stocks soaring, and re-inflate the Housing Bubble into the Everything Bubble. COMEX manipulation also caused people to dump gold and pour into stocks. Meanwhile, the Fed was lying to the world and saying that they would eventually shrink the balance-sheet and normalize interest-rates. Well, when they actually did allow the ten-year yield to go up to 3% in late 2018, it immediately crashed the stock market from 26,500 to 22,500. The debt-trap was exposed, the Fed was forced to restart Q. E. again, and gold began to take off in earnest. Everybody now knows that there is no possible way the Fed can ever get out of this situation without either defaulting or hyper-inflating. Everybody knows that normalization is a lie. We have negatively-yielding bonds, and they can never go positive again. The budget and asset-bubbles are so enormous now that even a 1% yield on the ten-year would crash the market and make the deficit too large to pay. Negatively-yielding bonds will cause a crash in the bond-market, by which the Fed will have to monetize more and more of the debt until it is the only buyer of treasuries--this would require printing literally tens of trillions, since the bond market is even bigger than the stock market. At some point, all confidence in the dollar will be lost. The dollar _must_ lose its status as the world reserve currency, and gold _will_ go 5x when that happens. There is no way out for the bankers now. None at all. Understand the fundamentals, and you will feel a complete sense of calm.

Oil based non corrosive "conservers" are really good stuff. You can take a ton of dirt/tarnish off and not harm the surface if done correctly. Verdicare and Coin Care are pretty good- coincare will dull silver so an application of MS70 afterwards is usually required.
