You bring up an interesting point. Will we see deflation with the change to the financial system? That would have tremendous impact across the entire financial sector. With the possible end of the boom & bust credit bubble cycle that we've known for so long as a global standard of how finance works, pegging gold to currency value in any regard will likely have deflationary effects. Or the other option is to inflate the value of gold. Which, comes with its own problems such as causing manufacturing prices for electronics to skyrocket in cost for example.
