The World Economic Forum (Forum) and Deloitte examined the challenges and potential solutions for interoperability in the context of supply chain, global trade, and the fourth industrial revolution.
The blockchain interoperability challenge

Through Deloitte’s work with the Forum’s Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution and its multi-stakeholder community on Redesigning Trust: Blockchain for Supply Chains, interoperability has emerged as a primary obstacle that impedes blockchain deployments.

Recognizing that blockchain solutions have been formed around existing, smaller ecosystems and that global trade supply chains may intersect multiple of these ecosystems. . .

Also there's this other guest that's interesting, should definitely keep an eye out

Ryan now leads point at Teller as the team creates DeFi's first bridge to the traditional FinTech ecosystem.

---

Teller, a San Francisco, CA-based blockchain project for decentralized lending incubated by A16Z’s crypto startup school, raised $1m in seed funding.

The round was led by Framework Ventures, followed by Parafi Capital and Maven11 Capital.

Led by Ryan Berkun, founder and CEO, Teller is introducing an undercollateralized DeFi lending protocol that can offer credit risk analysis. It will aggregate data from legacy credit scoring systems, like Equifax, into decentralized lending markets.

The protocol aims reduce lending risks for crypto holders and allow anyone to launch decentralized lending markets that can offer unsecured cryptocurrency loans.

Teller will act as a middleware protocol for the DeFi industry, enabling the development of lending markets that interoperate with centralized financial data providers via a cloud-based infrastructure composed of a distributed node network. By leveraging this network, where selected nodes perform cloud operations, Teller will aggregate an individual’s existing financial information and utilize the protocol’s open-sourced, credit risk algorithms to assess their creditworthiness and offer loan terms. Teller Protocol – a protocol that will let developers create unsecured lending markets on the Ethereum blockchain that can interoperate with centralized data providers and credit bureaus to calculate consumer credit risk for loans.

framework = the biggest link fund, early snx, now aave whales too, etc basically the first fund to have seen the defi hype coming and og marines (also speaking at the con)
they're seeing the next step will be linking defi to tradfi, or bringing tradfi into defi, genuinely exciting shit

Teller lets its users connect their credit scores with its protocol. A high credit score means that a customer would be able to take out a DeFi loan, from a lending protocol like Aave, Compound or Maker, with less collateral (less money up front) or with a lower interest rate. “It actually goes all the way down to zero collateral, which is really exciting because it's fully unsecured,” Ryan Berkun, Teller’s founder and CEO, told Decrypt.

And these DeFi loans also feed back into the credit score: default on a loan, and Teller will send the debt collectors after you and your credit score will lower—meaning it’ll be harder to get a loan at a regular, traditional bank. Berkun said that Teller’s partner, an undisclosed credit ratings agency, works with around 150 banks worldwide. Berkun didn’t provide details.

Michael Anderson, co-founder of Framework, told Decrypt that he saw in Teller an “opportunity for people who want undercollateralized [DeFi loans].” While some people appreciate the anonymity of DeFi loans—they offer the opportunity to bank entirely off-the-grid—anonymity comes at a price.

“People who are willing to tie their identities to things means that they will potentially have a lower [Annual Percentage Rate] in terms of what they're going to pay,” said Anderson. “There's a reason why a credit score exists.”

Stani Kulechov, founder and CEO of Aave, thinks Teller and Aave could work in tandem. “I could imagine that Tellor could source their liquidity from Aave via credit delegation and use their credit scoring for underwriting loans to reduce credit risk,” he said.

“Both Aave’s credit delegation and Teller are fascinating tools for expanding DeFi into undercollateralized lending,” he said.

Defi and CeFi are back together again—a marriage perhaps encouraged by Framework, which has invested in them both. “We will most likely work together quite soon,” said Kulechov.

How big is that? Moody/SP tier? Much smaller? Anyone have the insight into what scale this represents?

not sure i understand, why not just use link, sounds like they want to make an oracle network just for credit ratings?

How does Teller manage data privacy?
The protocol retrieves user data through Teller’s whitelisted, privacy-preserving data providers .
9
User data sources include, but are not limited to, banking transactions, credit reports, and
income verification. Users who interact with Teller’s data providers are in primary control of their
data and can opt-in to share specific data through API-based, third party data transfer networks
that interoperate with the protocol.
Once a user’s data is retrieved, the data provider cryptographically signs and returns it to the
user. The data provider then stores each users' account access tokens alongside its respective
Ethereum wallet. This process maintains a one-to-one mapping of the Ethereum wallet to the
account and enables future retrieval of current user information.
Teller’s data providers follow GDPR compliance on data privacy by only maintaining the index of
the user’s data concerning the specific data provider.
In future iterations of the protocol, Teller validators will utilize both secure enclaves and
zk-Snark technology to enhance data privacy and protection further.
