I went on Upwork and found a guy in Pakistan who will do the exact same work for $85.

There is nothing scary or ominous about our deficit/debt. Most of our "borrowing" come from the Fed which simply creates new dollars to pay for the Treasury bonds it buys and we pay no interest on those Fed bonds either. So it is free money which is keeping our economy afloat in what otherwise would be the Great Depression 2.0. So long as inflation remains subdued and interest rates are low, we can keep "borrowing" from the Fed in dollars that we create at will. Meanwhile, as the economy recovers, our deficit will decline.
