Twitter announcement of "open for trading in August" was misleading - it implied a public launch of the dex, which we found out last week isn't the case.

We'll move into public beta, then launch fully once volume has picked up a bit and once public beta has shaken out the last of the LN bugs.

It's close, but devs are being cautious.

This particular product is literally the first of its kind; there is nothing to compare against and no precedent for this, so devs are just trying to make sure the product is as secure and polished as possible.

Definitely frustrating that they weren't more clear about the difference between "open for trading" and "full release".

this is a huge mistake and honestly if that's their perspective it's very telling.

setting a release date, and the releasing on that date, signals to the public that the minimum viable product is live and functional - it's not to say they can't continue to add features, but it does two main things: 1) essentially free publicity because it's news about the product and a significant milestone for the developers, 2) indicates to normies that they can begin to consume the product. this also implies that it's been tested for functionality and is reasonably secure.

all CICD pipes need an MVP, it's a broadly accepted development reality that the MVP is a hugely important step in the go-to-market process.

if you want to make money on this, you'd better hope there's some sort of MVP release eventually, or adoption will be extremely slow.
