Why the fuck do most linkies think the will make "passive income" from staking? This is not a proof of stake type of concept, staking is not profitable on its own, it's just an insurance for the customer side that wants data from you. You don't own any exclusive data and you aren't capable of running a full ETH node and a chainlink node at >99.9% uptime. And even if you were, you'd probably blindly serve some scam smart contract that would steal all your LINK because you can't even read a smart contract.

What I'm seeing here is that a lot of nulinkers but also old ones misunderstand Chainlink's staking concept, the demand for LINK to be staked won't be there because there's not a sufficient supply of node operators. Every neet and pajeet will flock to them and beg them to take their LINK for a piece of their revenue but they'll be covered by Sergey anyways. Only chance for you right now is probably Linkpool but even that has a LONG TERM limit of 10k LINK per 1 LP.

My hypothesis: Staking is probably on the table this year but most LINK holders (normies and le neet node marines) at this point are confused about what it actually means. Upon the initial pump and hype the reality will set in because the vast majority of holders will not be able to run a node profitably (maybe some can set up one but their reputation and quality of data will be so low that they won't get any jobs) or won't find a place to "stake" their linkies in as there simply will be way too much LINK wanting to be staked and not enough demand for it. Then, we'll enter a bear market for LINK as normies lose interest as their passive income dream bubble popped and we will form a bottom at around 200$ per LINK. From there oldfags and techy nufags will stay as usual and ride future LINK pumps without the retards that are incoming right now.

I mean, every price prediction is talking out of ones ass so I have no actual idea, I just can imagine that this bull run is not over yet and can go all year. Alternatively, it can end in 30 minutes and we dump to 10$ or lower. No idea. Just happen to believe that we go 3 digits this year from all the good press but still, everything else in my post is what I think will happen concerning staking announcement and aftermath.

Agreed

I have my own hypothesis: Chainlink VRF framework will require more nodes than the current price feed framework. So if my theory is correct VRF users might design oracle networks with tens of nodes each, but with low payments.

Disagree. LINK Gas Station could allow LINK holders to lock their link for passive linkies, yVaults and other DeFi protocols too. Holding LINK is way too profitable as to meet with another massive bear market

I just buy for the pump and dump. If a new bull run starts and we surpass previous ath of total market cap of crypto, link is the new hype coin that will have massive returns

I was thinking about this too but in my opinion it's just such a low effort thing to do that it's gonna be a race to the bottom and basically free. Maybe not even LINK staking required as it is provable on its own. So I don't expect much demand to come from there even if VRF demand in general blows up.

Well the problem with that is, that makes Chainlink no different from Tether for example. If you want staking to be interest for providing liquidity, you can cash out into any other erc token or stable coin or eth and do that. I don't see the bullish exclusive point for LINK here.

Agreed with your post many here actually forget that as time goes on link is becomong better to hold than any other asset in the world.

I just don’t agree that staking will come out this year. Sorry. It might be ready but Sergeu won’t launch it.

From talking to linkpool employees I have sensed that there is no rush to finish their staking product as staking isn't released yet but they have very short time horizons on every task they have. Currently they are focusing on the market and we can expect some big releases shortly. So I think once they've done that, the staking dapp will be made final. But that's just my feeling, also that's not insider information, you can literally hit up any admin and talk to them about the development they are doing. Also, everything is speculation but it kinda feels like SmartCon is a sign that Chainlink is its own thing now but that can only be true once it's a fully decentralized permissionless network and that only works with staking and reputation. So my gut tells me it's coming out in a few weeks.

It's the reason why I finally bought some LP shares. It all depends on what kind of demand we will be getting. If enterprises will start using smartcontracts and thus Chainlink, I think the demand will increase rapidly. Currently we just have the DeFi thing going on, but the year is already 2020. I think the T systems and the korean banks providing data is like the first dominos falling. I don't know at what point we are in growth, but as Sergey said himself, the smartcontracts deployed will go vertical.

Who acts like staking is happening this year? Everything i have heard is at full adoption link will be nearly fully staked which will make it incredibly valuable. No one acts like thats happening tomorrow.

Sergey even said singularity will happen when one company tells another company how much money they are saving using the chainlink network.

Sadly I just don’t see that happening for another couple years.

Right now it’s all about deFi. Check the nodes on chainlink market cap. Most of it is shit deFi.
